CLAed in 2013: Leica SUPER-ANGULON 1:4/21 + U.V.a filter + Hood + View Finder

Great for film Leicas
Beautiful optics. Very sharp with no distortion. Small and dense. Does not work well with digital by creating color artifacts. It has something to do with the light hitting the film plane at an angle which does not work well with digital sensors.
Leica M-D (Typ 262) Digital Rangefinder Camera

Pure essence of leica rangefinder film shooting in a digital body.
After ditching film for digital 15 years ago, I have embraced film once more. Film makes me slow down, to judge a scene more critically before pressing the shutter resulting in a better keeper rate. With film you are hard pressed to justify shooting when you don't think its worth the cost of the film, developing and scanning. I am susceptible to being trigger happy with digital. Shooting the hell out of marginal subjects to see if anything will emerge as a good image which rarely happens. Its when I slow down a little and frame before pressing that my best work emerges. I shoot film with my Leica M2 and wanted to add a digital body that would operate seamlessly with my leica lens collection and my shooting technique (street and documentary photography) . The MD allows me to use an identical process as I do with my film leica. My kit becomes two bodies (MD and M2) and three lenses (28mm, 35mm & 50mm). Before I used to carry two separate systems and lenses. Unlike other leica digital bodies the MD has no screen or menus. The output is DNG raw file with auto white balance. It does allow for exposure compensation when in auto shutter speed mode. The ISO is controlled via a large dial on the back of the camera just like the film versions. Beyond that it operates like a film camera. You don't get to see what you have shot until you remove the SD card and plug it in to a computer. Without the ability to review your files as you shoot there are no distractions, nothing to take your concentration "out of the moment". While this can be liberating for some (me included) it can be a limitation for others pursuing more broader uses for a photographic tool. I agree with the critics of the MD who's point out that, with self discipline, an M240 or M10 you can turn off the screen and decide to not access the menus while shooting and thus avoid all the distractions during shooting. I just prefer a more raw shooting experience and don't see a need. I still retain my excellent fuji XT1 body and lenses for total control of all parameters. The feel of the MD's controls, materials and finishes are superb. The MD body is slightly bloated compared to its film cousins. Thicker and heavier but still very comfortable and balanced in the hand especially with some of leica's excellent and relatively small lenses. Overall a small package for a full frame camera. The rangefinder is bright and accurate like all leica M cameras. Ideal for: - Experienced photographers looking for a simpler operating full frame camera with very little complexity. - Street shooters looking for a camera that gets out of the way without distracting menus and settings. - Those willing to forgo live view and the ability to check exposure and composition after shooting in the interest of staying engaged in the action around and waiting for the "decisive moment". - Those keen on post processing DNG files to achieve the look they desire. Not ideal for: - Those keen on live view on screen or via hot shoe mounted electronic viewfinder. A better choice would be the new M10. - High ISO sensitivity above 3200 iso. Again, a better choice would be the new M10 with ISO up to 50,000. - Those interested in producing JPEGs from the camera and the ability to send them to external devices via WIFI. The M10 has that too.
Plaubel Makina 67 670 Camera Neoprene Soft Body Case Cover Pouch Padded Bag (XL)

Great protection for Makina 67
I used this case on a recent trip to protect my Makina 67 while packed in my luggage. It fits nicely with enough space to easily insert and remove from the case. It fits either vertically or horizontally. Vertically fits best for inserting and removing. The padding is a firm and flexible neoprene type material but is not bulky. It seems to be well constructed and detailed and the look and feel is high quality.
