Great smooth jazz
Fourplay with Lee Ritenour (arguably the best American guitar player ever in any genre) blends the smooth tones of the snappy bass, incredibly capable guitar, and great jazz piano to offer up great smooth jazz. Great tunes, mostly by Ritenour, and great jazz piano.

Best of the Best
This is the Best of the Best. If you like guitar/synth/sax smooth jazz, there are only two groups - Fourplay when Lee Ritenour (arguably the best American guitar player ever in any genre) was with them, and the Rippingtons, which is Russ Freeman's baby. I won't even begin to try to choose one over the other. The Rippingtons sound is unmistakable, unique, and very heavy on the synth, but not in a New Age way. The synth fills out the sound, while the guitar and sax take turns doing the tune. Given that the Rippingtons are top dogs in smooth jazz, I think their "Best of the Rippingtons" would be the first album you'd want to get. But I think most will agree that "Tourist in Paradise" is the best tune they've ever done. I am trying to get all their albums, and other than their "Best" album Live in LA, this is the one to get.

Another great album fro the best in smooth jazz
Fourplay with Lee Ritenour (arguably the best American guitar player ever in any genre) blends the smooth tones of the snappy bass, incredibly capable guitar, and great jazz piano to offer up great smooth jazz. Great tunes, great jazz piano, synths to round out the sound. Play this while sitting in front of a warm fireplace sipping brandy and doing what comes naturally. The first song, Chant features the bass/vocalizing of Nathan East, while Monterey is a classic Lee Ritenour-style song. Great jazz all around.
