Classic Bob Hope
2 personnes sur 2 ont jugé cet avis utile. For those who didn't catch Bob Hope in his prime and only remember his later work, this is a great place to discover what made him so famous. The film, for a fairly silly ghost story that's equal parts real and fake supernatural events, complements Hope's scared-but-brave radio reporter with pretty plucky Paulette Goddard and an underrated Willie Best (always good even when he's playing stereotypical sidekicks.Here he shines)gives the standard plot of an inherited haunted castle a nice pace. The placement of the castle in Cuba allows for some exotic touches that, along with a mobster subplot, date the film firmly in the forties but keep it lively. The humor isn't rock bottom camp, leaning more on snappy patter than stupid puns, and the spooks are decent for the day.
Mostly, it's a superb showcase for the peculiar combination of charm and comedy that made Bob Hope a top entertainer. Included special feature shorts on his service to the troops through every war he lived through give a broader picture of the man as well. Fun, funny, enjoyable classic forties humor.

One of the best things I've ever found on eBay
These particular hair sticks are sturdy and gorgeous. They cloisonne is well done, the colors complement and the surface helps it stay put in slick/thinner hair than a smooth stick would. They really are fine work and not at all the chunky clunky sort of thing often coming from China these days. I've bought two of the lotus, two peacocks and one of the lily shaped ones. All are great.

All the classic songs
I grew up with this on vinyl so maybe I'm biased but if you like Johnny Mathis at all, his mellow voice is perfect for fireside Christmas music. The arrangements aren't too cheesy, so it sets the mood wonderfully and doesn't have the attention-grabbing bombast of the major choir music usually associated with Christmas albums.
