Snappy Popcorn Butter Burst Oil , 1 gallon( 128 fl oz ), Free Shipping, New

Disappointing
Unfortunately, in my quest to find an actual butter-tasting popcorn topping, I'll have to keep looking. I was hoping this would fit the bill, but instead, it's only another very mild, oily-tasting topping. To my palate at least, it tastes like straight canola oil with a slight butter aroma, and a hint of fishy taste. And now I have a gallon jug of the stuff to sit next to the gallon jug of Super-Kist II. Yay. For now, I'll go back to Orville Redenbacher's popcorn topping until I can find a new candidate in my popcorn topping quest.

Excellent popper
I'm happy with this popper. It's made of thin aluminum, meaning it heats up very quickly. In fact, if you turn up the heat too high (past 6 1/2 on my gas stove), it'll actually pop far faster than in a microwave. However, if you do that, the kernels tend to be small and crunchy (more like corn nuts), not fluffy. Through experimentation, I found that if you heat the kernels a bit slower, you get a nicer pop - fluffy and crunchy. Oddly, I don't turn the mixing whisk very much, at least at first. A heaping 1/3 c. of kernels, when popped, will almost fully fill the popper, and with that amount of kernels lying flat on the bottom of the pan, the whisk more or less just passes over the top of them. However, it's useful later for mixing the corn after the kernels start popping. I've also found it better to move the whisk back and forth rather than in just one direction. Otherwise, the whisk gets hard to turn, popcorn gets glued to the whisk and you have to pull them off later. Until the corn starts popping, I just occasionally shake the popper. Cleaning is a cinch; the whole thing unsnaps and disassembles easily. Overall, very happy with it. You can whip up a lot of popcorn in a short time using it - great for movie parties! For movie popcorn taste, cook the corn in coconut oil and salt it with Flavacol seasoning. (A little goes a long way.)
