Crime Novel. (Romanzo Criminale)
I rented this film after reading the review in Empire it is set in Italy, mainly Rome from 1970 to early 1990 and follows a group of childhood friends who become gangsters together and ultimately meet sticky ends, it sounded like a good story and the review was very good also. I liked it so much that I had to buy it; this version was also in a special tin box which seemed like a good reason too. You could easily put this film in the same league as The Godfather or Goodfellas. It is quite violent and sad but griping and if you manage to check out the book (which as usual is much better than the film) you will be forced to watch this also. The great story and acting make this a must see film which due to it not being made in English was never given the wide cinema release and publicity that it deserved and needed to make it as famous here as it is in Italy.
