Electric Flag- Best of (Old Glory)
This is truly one of the unappreciated classics of the rock era- When a supergroup is put together with the likes of performers such as: Mike Bloomfield (perhaps one of the five greatest guitarists ever), Buddy Miles (arguably one of the five greatest drummers ever), Nick Gravenites (a superior vocalist by any standard) and a horn section that rivals any ever assembled, you know you have a special core of musicians and believe me they never disappoint- This is a very eclectic grouping of songs with every one a winner in it's own right- My only gripe is that they just weren't around long enough for most music lovers to get a hold of- And with Mike Bloomfield dying at such a young age, we just didn't have the opportunity to see his greatness- Thank GOD for releases such as these giving his legacy an opportunity to live on- Grab it while you can as they will not always be available!!

My love for Animals!

Sometimes as life passes, things that we once regarded as great are not so great when you revisit them in later years- We realize that they become dated, get old and worn or sometimes they just aren't very good and we can't believe that at one point in time we held them in such high regard- BUT!, this is not the case for this ageless music- The Animals are such a large part of our musical heritage, with their bluesy riffs and soulful vocals- It is rare indeed to find this type of passion in the music of today-
This collection, of course, has all the standard Animal classics such as,'House of the Rising Sun', 'We Gotta Get Outta This Place','It's my Life', 'Don't Let Me be Misunderstood' and 'Bring it on Home to Me'- But, to it's credit, there are some excellent covers of blues classics such as, 'Roadrunner', 'Let the Good Times Roll', 'Memphis', the Johnny Lee Hooker staple, 'I'm Mad Again',and The Yardbirds' masterpiece, 'I Ain't Got You'- With a total of forty tracks, I don't have the space to list all of the best ones, as I would have to list all forty of them- As far as I am concerned, there is not a yawner in the bunch-
If you were not around in the 60s to be a part of the music scene with groups such as The Animals or The Yardbirds or Cream or Led Zeppelin or Early Rolling Stones, this would be a great place to begin your search for musical excellence- If you're like most lovers of music, you won't stop here!! But you will find the journey to be well worth the time and expense- But, don't hesitate, this music will not be available forever; get it while you can-

Best of Peter and Gordon
If you are too young to remember the music invasion of "The British", this would be a good place to get your feet wet- This duet had a personal inside track to "The Beatles" and the first couple of years showed this remarkable influence- The songwriting was excellent and the vocal harmonies were without peer for this era- I dare you to listen to a song like "World Without Love" and not be pulled into the excitement of that musical tme period- I have heard it said that music never dies but just changes order; let's hope that this type of entetainment hangs around for our kids and their kid's kids- This is great stuff!
