A great prequel
Your Country has been invaded. Your leaders have surrendered and some are now collaborating with the enemy. Join the resistance and battle the Reich from Paris to North Africa. The fight against tyranny is in your hands. This is Medal Of Honor: Underground. Basic Overview Medal Of Honor:Underground takes off where the first Medal Of Honor left off but with several changes. You now play as Manon, you must lead Manon from her beginnings in the Resistance through her recruitment by the OSS to thwart the enemy onslaught. Armed with an arsenal of new weapons, you battle tanks, Half-tracks, motorcycles and Gestapo thugs across a wide variety of authentic World War II locations in Europe and North Africa. From the cobblestone streets of Paris to the narrow alleyways of Casablanca, from a doomed Italian monastery to Himmler's dark medieval castle in Germany, undertake challenging missions to outwit and outgun the enemy. Procured weapons, expert stealth and a poised trigger finger - you'll need them all to become a seasoned OSS veteran and to return home to take your part in the liberation of your nation. Now we've got the basic overview out of the way... onto the review. Graphics 7/10 There's some lovely gun models and Axis skins. The level textures fit in nicely with the theme of the game and give a realistic real. There's even some nicely animated tanks (various kinds) for you to deal with. Game Play 8/10 This might take you a level or two to get to grips with. The default controls have you struggling with a very strange Analog Stick layout but I got used to it very quickly. But it is customizable so anything you don't like you can change. Life Span 8/10 Nice and long single player mode with a oddly addictive multi player mode. Single player mode took me seven to ten hours (I consider myself the average gamer) on the default difficulty which I feel is very good. Chances are you'll play through the Single Player mode at least twice. Its very satisfying destroying those half - tracks! Once completed the normal way you can go back and use some of the many cheat codes to try the game different ways. Good stuff! Overall 8/10 I truly enjoyed this game... twice! And plan to play it through again. There's lots of good features (grenades for one) but it does have its flaws. I personally didn't like the level designs very much. There were many levels which looked like I could jump straight out of and into the black abyss. All the level designers had to do was put a tree or wall in the way. But this is basically all I have to complain about. The rest of the game was great fun and UK games can pick it up for as cheap as £7.99. A must for any first person shooter fan.

"Now an older title, but still fun"
Tomb Raider is now obsolete by PC standards, but it's really not that old and still fun. You, of course, are Lara Croft, adventurer and the most popular female video game character ever, for obvious reasons. You venture through 15 levels of 3D action, utilizing an over the shoulder perspective at all times, similar to Super Mario 64. The camera angle can be changed when wanted. Each level is filled with enemies, such as bears, gorillas, alligators, lions, monsters, obstacles such as fire, water, and spikes, and rival adventurers such as Pierre, who doesn't hesitate to shoot at you. However, the real challenge in Tomb Raider is in the puzzles in each level, like where to find the missing key or how to get through that door. The level design is very good in this respect. Lara's weapons include pistols, a shotgun, a pair of magnums and a pair of uzis. Med Packs restore energy. This is a one player game only, and the requirements are a Pentium 60, 8 MB of RAM and a 2X CD Rom. Graphics: 7/10 Now dated, but still not too bad. The cut scenes are well done and the enemies are realistic. At the time of its release, this game was amazing because of its huge 3D worlds with all their open space. Also, Lara is very animated. Sound: 8/10 Music is non-existant, but sound effects are plentiful. You hear guns blazing, water dripping, Lara swimming, and blocks being scraped along a floor when pushed. Gameplay: 9/10 This game is difficult to complete and can take quite a while. None of the enemies are particularly hard (the last boss, Natla, is much too easy), but some puzzles could keep you entertained for quite some time. Most of the 15 levels are huge, with plenty of things to find out. Control is good, and a wide variety of moves are at Lara's disposal, including backward somersaults, side flips, handstands, as well as the ability to jump, push or pull some objects, swim and climb. There is good variety in the levels; one is a cave, filled with bats and damp surroundings; there's a Roman Colosseum, with lions and huge pillars; there's an underground mine, filled with pools, mine carts and boxes of TNT. The game is realistic for the most part; for example, if Lara jumps from a certain height she'll break her legs and die, and if you dive onto solid ground from high enough, you won't roll but instead break your neck. If you're being shot at by one of the humans and you dive in water, they will stand by the edge and continue to shoot at you. The addition of the T-Rex in the third level is a nice surprise; a long time can be spent simply having fun with him as he tries to catch you. Another addition is the fact that each level contains several secrets; they usually just contain some ammo or a Med Pack. Replay: 7/10 You can find the secrets if you missed any. There are certain areas of the game that are fun to play over, such as the T-Rex scene, and certain sadistic things that are very fun as well, such as diving onto rocks instead of into water, sacrificing yourself to a T-Rex or somersaulting onto spikes. Overall: 8/10 Don't let the age fool you. This was an amazing game at the time, and it's still worth a look now. Best of all, this game can be found very cheap. Be on the lookout for it.
