I bought this novel in 1974 because of the cover , Zimbabwe bird, Ruins of a city, and a Bearded White man on the cover .( Wilbur Smith the author has written 20 plus novels dealing with Africa. ) " What Super Race had built this vast ancient city and then vanished from the face of the earth? " The first part. An Archeologist Ben Kazin and his Billionaire friend Louren Sturvesant search for a lost city of Opet/Opar founded by Carthaginians escaping from the Romans. They founded an Empire about the size of Europe which vanished without a trace. The city ruins are found by aerial photos because all the stones were removed by hand . Ben and Louren uncover a hidden chamber and fall victim to the curse of the Pharaohs , deadly spores. The second part This takes place in the distance past. . Louren is now a future King of Opet and Ben is Hue Ben Amon the Axman of the Gods and the Kings advisor. ( Reincarnated???) The decisions made in the past, by these two , lead to the destruction of the Empire. In the last chapters we are back in the present. Instead of the third or fourth remake of a movie someone should use this

If you need this part it is an exact looking replacement and works like as the ones that came on my 1970 Cutlass. The original ones had the fabric worn from years of use. They should hold up as the 37 year old ones they have replaced

Do not Overlook this Romantic Comedy
I was familiar with Rhys Ifans from the Keanu Reeves film " The Replacements". (The Welsh kicker who smokes before field goal kicking.) The cover shows Danny in a deck chair sailing thru the air. The film, Australian, never made it to theaters here, our loss. Danny and his girl friend are having some problems. His vacation has arrived and he is all set to go camping. His girlfriend says no way! They settle for a cook out on the weekend and invite their friends over . Several dozen super sized balloons and 4 tanks of Helium accidentally launch him to parts unknown. He crash lands in a far off town where he starts a new life, romances a meter maid and makes new friends. But his old girlfriend has became a instant celebrity and every one is looking for him. When his past finally catches up with him he is going to have to decide which life he wants to live.I think this movie fits well in any ones collection.
