Back in the days when movies were fun
I saw this movie in the theater when it was first released. Movies were actually affordable in those days- and enjoyable to watch. "Summer School" has its funny moments, its silly moments, but also a suprisingly positive message for a comedy. Back in those days (the late 1980's) the entertainment industry was still quite tame. The dirty jokes and strong language in this movie are down to a minimum, in favor of humor and good clean fun, something you will not see in a movie today. The high school troublemakers are more fun-loving than threatening, and actually learn something by the end of the summer school course- again, something you would not see in any movie today.

The good old days
1 personnes sur 1 ont jugé cet avis utile. I never tire of hearing how movies from past decades show how innocent and kinder the world once was. Meatballs is a good example of what summer camp was like in 1979. The humor, jokes, and behavior of the cast seem incredibly wholesome compared to anything you will see in movie theaters today. I highly recommend this movie to anyone who doesn't remember the era and would like to see what life was like in the late 1970's, or to someone like myself who does remember and longs for the good old days.
