Great for Homeschool
This is another one of our favorite home education tools. The whole family can get involved and really learn. The cards are really handy, and are best used for younger ones who like to hold and touch a word they are learning. The book is great for older ones and as a teacher's guide because it includes interesting tidbits about the word and it's usage. I'd say that one could use either the text or the cards independently. Though, little ones like making their own card set, too! Fun for everyone!

So it seems...
I haven't USED this book in Science Class, yet - but it did bring my grade-school science back to mind. Also, I learned a few new things! I own this book and have pre-viewed it for science/health study. It seems to be a good find! I plan to use this with all of my children in a homeschool setting. I think the book is written for 5th grade, but there is learning potential for even very young ones. I have not used it yet, but I look forward to it. I think third graders could use it on their own. Younger children can be guided through it. I do wish there was more "color", but pages can be photocopied for coloring! The expirements seem to be simple to follow and allows for further exploration. It encourages repitition of the experiments in various situations. It does deviate from "experimentation" into "preaching" evolution as a fact at some points in the book. The authors comment was that it was "ok" that some people don't believe in evolution, as if evolutionists were on a higher rung on the ladder. But, if one sticks to the experiments presented - it will be really interesting, ESPECIALLY for those who believe that our bodies were created in such a magnificent way that we still do not FULLY understand them. It's nice to have a guide for our wonderful human bodies. This is the first one I've run onto that was presented as a learning guide rather than just a book of facts. I like it. Rating: Good

Excellent Educational Tool
I bought this for my husband, a Civil Engineer. The WHOLE family loves it and we are able to incorporate it in our homeschool curriculum with our 7 and 9 year old daughters. Caution: includes some shockingly graphic scenes that aren't really essential to the information.
