A good value
This is a small simple lightweight inexpensive communication speaker. It has decent voice audio quality at lower to moderate volumes. It makes speech more intelligible than many built-in speakers that point down, up, or otherwise away from the listener. At really high volumes it sounds a bit strained and hollow so if you're trying to overcome a lot of background noise you might want something bigger and nicer. From what I can tell this same speaker is sold under many brands at many different price points.

Better than expected
1 personnes sur 1 ont jugé cet avis utile. This amp uses the BG4IGX Chinese design. You can find the schematic, other reviews, etc. online. Unlike less expensive HF amps it has 4 switchable low pass filters which are essential to clean up the output. Make sure you always select the correct band as using the wrong filter could present a high SWR load to the amplifier and damage it. The 4 settings are:
80M
40M
30M - 17M
15M - 10M
I measured the amp on 20M at 14.2 Mhz into a 50 ohm dummy load with a 14.1 volt power supply and it had near perfect 1:1 SWR into the amplifier input with the following output power levels when driven at the various input power levels:
0.5 watts in = 8.5 watts out
1.0 watts in = 20 watts out
2.8 watts in = 40 watts out
5.0 watts in = 45 watts out
Power draw is as follows at 14.1 VDC:
Receive mode: 20 mA
Transmit idle (no RF input): 550 mA
8.5 watts out: 2.7 amps
20 watts out 4.2 amps
40 watts out 6.1 amps
45 watts out 6.7 amps
I did some spot checks on other bands and the amp put out a few watts less power at 40M and 80M and a few watts more at 15M and 10M . The output is surprisingly clean on all 5 bands for such a simple design.
My amp came with a detachable fused power cable and a detachable PTT cable. Both have bare wire ends and a DIN-style plug was supplied for the FT817 ACC connector and a 2.5mm 3 conductor mini phone-style plug. You're on your own to figure out the pinout and solder on the appropriate PTT connector. Shorting the PTT leads puts the amp into transmit. In receive, or when powered off, the amp is bypassed and doesn't seem to alter the SWR. For those wondering about weight for portable use it's about 1 lb 5 oz or 600 grams. With the connectors and controls (but not the rubber feet) it's about 18.5 x 10.2 x 3.5 cm.
I knocked a star off as it comes with no documentation, you have to assemble the PTT cable yourself, the power and PTT connectors are non-standard pigtails, the build quality is typical marginal Chinese workmanship, and it won't make 45 watts on 80 meters at 13.8 VDC and 5.0 watts input as specified. But, if it stays working, it's a decent amp. I don't know what RF output device is used (it's unmarked) but the price seems a bit high for what it probably costs to manufacture in China. Still, I'm not aware of any better alternatives for less money. Mine is from a USA seller.

About what you would expect
This was about what you'd expect for the price a decent value for light use. It's "Harbor Freight Grade" if you're familiar with their products. It gets the job done and punched a 50mm hole in 1.5mm steel without a problem. Beware the two smallest punches need a pilot hole a bit over 3/8 inch and the larger punches need a hole a bit over 3/4 inch. I used the smallest punch to make the larger pilot hole but it's a bit too big for that. For occasional use if you don't mind cheap Chinese tools this gets the job done. One of the latches on the case was broken in shipping and the smallest punch doesn't fit into its recess in the case but those are relatively minor issues.
