Best bridge camera but...
I purchased this to upgrade my all-in-one traveler. No regrets here. I wanted 4k, better image quality and faster write speed. This camera delivers relative to other bridge cameras. However, if you need even faster write time and buffer space, the best image quality you can get, even better low light performance, you still need a DSLR.

Great for what it's designed to do!
I purchased this for portrait work and I was not disappointed. At f4 it's sharpness is spectacular! It's also great for low-light use. One thing I will say is that knowing what I know now I would have wanted a longer focal range for portraits. 85-200mm lenses can produce even more pleasing bokeh. On a crop sensor body this will still produce great out of focus backgrounds especially for head shots. You really can't go wrong with a nifty fifty for quality optics at an affordable price!

Better than you'd think
This is an affordable medium telephoto lens that is much more sharp than I expected. Having previously purchased a 50mm dedicated portrait prime lens which is tack sharp, I found the sharpness on this lens impressive enough to choose it over my prime for most portrait work. If you step back and zoom in on your subject it renders nice out of focus backdrops. I used it at multiple concerts and events and it performed very well especially in good light. For more intimate events you'll likely want a 24-70 to cover a wider range. If you are shooting in low-light there are better options. For daylight telephoto medium to long reach and sharp results at an affordable price, it's difficult to beat this lens!
