Having an ebay seller contact me from outside the ebay communication system has NEVER happened to me. Purchased item on 03/30, seller did not send item or communicate any delays. I messaged seller on 04/09 asking when the item would be sent, I immediately received an email from a shopify account, not ebay, under the same name (ABCresell) saying my order was cancelled at my request. As of 04/11 my ebay order is not cancelled, not sent out, and there has been no communication from ABCresell.
