1234...Can I Have A Little More?
With the recent acquisition of the vinyl , I've discovered at least three different versions of the package. First, my single cd purchased all those years ago. The song list matched my record store day buy so my daughter kindly traded her two cd set in which, the second disc skipped. I immediately took to Ebay and for a reasonable replacement and to my amazement this package differed from hers! Luckily the extra material was limited to disc number one... must be in really like this music! Across The Universe Deluxe Edition Soundtrack
I absolutely loved the movie itself, especially the music, the way it's changed and put together. I think most of the cast are excellent singers. Because I loved the movie, I was surprised at the differences in the soundtrack. The deluxe edition has all songs on it, so make sure you get that one. The origional one only has one cd and is missing many songs. The big difference in the music is the background music. It has been changed a bit the background music can sometimes drown out the singing. All in all, I would recommend it and buy it again. Spectacular across the universe soundtrack CD
I love that this cd has 31 tracks, instead of the 29 track cd that was sold in retail stores. That was the main reason why I bought it because I could not find the 31 track cd in the stores, also it includes "I want you (she's so heavy)" and "why don't we do it in the road" (the extra two songs). If you were a fan of the movie and had all the songs running in you head afterwards, this is the CD for you! The two disc set also includes the lyrics to each of the songs and the songs are in order of how they appear in the movie, which is very convient because it paints a scence in you head of what was going on in the movie while the song is playing . I didn't like the two instrumental tracks (the last two on the first cd) because I don't remember when ... 5 Stars But....
The movie, actors, music, and shear talent are well worth repeated viewings. I do offer this one personal warning. When the movie reaches the end of the chapter with Dr. Robert (Bono) getting back on his bus, skip the next chapter which features Eddie Izzard (a not very original nor funny British comedian) in the role of Mr. Kite. The effects are very poor, the fun of the Beatles original is totally absent, and Izzard literally destroys the whole scene--very poor choice and filming by the Director. I still give it 5 stars with that caveat. Effects are sometimes too much but the story and the talented actors who perform the songs are first rate. Across the Universe soundtrack not exactly like movie
The Across the Universe soundtrack was good, but a bit disappointing if you are expecting it to be exactly like the movie. Certain songs sounded much better in the film. Also even on the deluxe album "I want you/she's so heavy" and "why don't we do it in the rain" are missing. I'm not quite sure why they did not make it onto the album. The fact they are missing is a bit disappointing. The voices of the actors/actresses are incredible however especially on "Oh Darling" and "Because".
