The Lost World
This movie is just as good (maybe even better) as the first Jurassic Park movie. This one follows Ian Malcolm, who goes to the second island Site B, which was made as a back up plan in case the amusement park idea went badly. John Hammond, the man who created the park, wants experts to go on a trip to Site B to document the dinosaurs in their natural habitat. He learns that John Hammond has sent his girlfriend there, who is a paleontologist, and Ian feels that he needs to go rescue her. When he arrives they discover that a man with a huge team is hunting down some of the dinosaurs to return them back to the United States in a new zoo. But of course things go terribly wrong once again. If you enjoyed the first Jurassic Park movie, then you'll love this one as well.This movie is just as good (maybe even better) as the first Jurassic Park movie. Exciting, but weakest link in the Jurassic Park series
As a series, I rate Jurassic Park as excellent. However, this entry is the weakest link. It's still worth watching, but the characters did so many incomprehensible things that I couldn't relate to them. The worst is Sarah, supposedly an expert on the behavior of predatory animals. On an island to study dinosaurs in their natural habitat, Sarah pets a baby dinosaur. In the VERY NEXT SCENE, she lectures her colleagues on how touching even one blade of grass can upset the ecosystem. But touching the actual dinosaurs is OK? Apparently not, because when a baby T Rex breaks its leg and co-worker Nick carries it into the scientists' trailer for treatment, Sarah screams at Nick to put it back outside. Despite misgivings, Sarah splints the leg before tossing the baby back to its parents, ... As a series, I rate Jurassic Park as excellent. However, this entry is the weakest link. The scenes where the trailer dangles over the cliff with glass breaking & occupants screaming while one guy tries to haul it back up are easily the most exciting, harrowing moments in the film --- but they can't quite make up for Sarah's stupidity. She continues to wear a shirt soaked in the baby T-Rex's blood, and even points this out to her co-workers and the audience, while also saying the blood won't dry due to the humidity, and dinosaurs have an excellent sense of smell. Guess what happens? No, her boyfriend Ian, also a supposedly-brilliant scientist, doesn't tell her to ditch the shirt and wear his. Possibly because Ian, who supposedly came to the island for the sole purpose of rescuing Sarah, has zero chemistry with her. Sarah seems more interested in Nick, but this was never addressed. Also never explained is how an adult T-Rex manages to kill EVERY person on a large cargo ship, while remaining locked in the hold, and then the ship magically arrives at its intended destination ahead of schedule (OK, it crashes into the dock, but I'm still impressed). Then the T-Rex dramatically bursts out of the hold and goes on a rampage. Possibly some of this film would have made more sense if it took place in daylight. There is no reason, plot-wise, that almost everything had to happen in total darkness, making it hard to see exactly what was going on. There was also no reason to include Ian's daughter, unless it was to show that Daddy T-Rex has better parenting skills than Ian. If that was the point, the movie succeeded.

Fantastic purchase!
I was debating wide-screen or full screen. The wide-screen was an awesome choice. The picture wasn't smaller or anything, the wide screen actually captures a lot more. The DVD was in great condition and the quality was exactly what I expected.
