Good edge of your seat horror flick
In Ogden Marsh, Iowa, a small town of just over 1200 people, there is something happening that is making the citizens act homicidal. Sheriff David Dutton is forced to kill a resident and another kills his wife and son. Following the discovery of a downed plane and a dead pilot things really begin to get out of hand. This is a well written and directed movie with a great cast. It is so realistic that you could actually believe it may have happened already. This is a r emake of the 1973 film of the same name. Much of the filming was done in Middle Georgia, and Lenox, Iowa. The movie keeps you entertained throughout, however the ending is somewhat predictable. The cast includes: Timothy Olyphant as David Dutton, Radha Mitchell as Judy Dutton, Joe Anderson as Russell Clank, ... It is clear that the current cycle of horror remakes is far from over and the results so far have for the most part been surprisingly good. This trend continues with 'The Crazies'- a reinvention of George Romero's little-seen 1973 original. The plot is beyond simple: a biological agent gets into the water supply of a small town in Iowa called Ogden Marsh and turns the inhabitants into homicidal maniacs. Things get even worse when a US Army unit initiates a brutal containment operation where shooting first and not bothering to ask questions is the order of the day. The film wastes little time building up to the first outbreak of insanity and then chillingly portrays how the town's social fabric is obliterated at break-neck speed. The minimalist soundtrack is also strikingly effective. All in all, this film is a treat for horror fans and for anyone looking for an intense night out at the movies.

The Crazies - Shock Value, but does not capture the audience!
The movie attempts to create the shock value starting right in the beginning of the movie. In summary, the movie is about a small town in which the residents start going nuts. The movie attempts to capture a plot at the beginning as well but does a poor job in my opinion. There are only a few clues at the beginning that help you understand the movie. The movie appears to be somewhat realistic in the event of a pandemic. The main characters, however, seem to have 9 lives throughout the movie. I have never seen as much happen to the main characters and they keep on ticking! A good movie to watch for a quick scare but not an excellent one. If you are into the zombie movement, you may enjoy the movie more.
