Billed as the sequel to the hit 1994 film THE MASK--which featured an unforgettably cartoonish performance by Jim Carrey--Larry Guterman's SON OF THE MASK is another energetic movie that blends special effects, action, and comedy to create an admirable entry to the genre. This time around, the star of the film is Jamie Kennedy (MALIBU'S MOST WANTED), who plays Tim Avery, a young husband with a fear of fatherhood. Unfortunately, he is about to become just that, alongside his excited wife Tonya (Traylor Howard). What makes an already bad situation worse is Tim's eventual realization that his son was conceived under the powers of the eternal Mask of Loki, which has turned his son into an uncontrollable monster. Then there's the arrival of the actual Loki (Alan Cumming), an evil figure who has come to reclaim his mask and win the approval of his overly critical father, Odin (Bob Hoskins). As Tim battles against Loki and tries to return his son to normalcy, he learns what being a good father is all about. Featuring stellar special effects, standout performances (most notably by Kennedy and Cumming), and lewd gags, SON OF THE MASK is ultimately a celebration of fatherhood--albeit in a very supernatural way.

    NOT as bad as people say

    This movie is funny. Despite what most critics, professional or unpaid, say Son of the Mask is an entertaining family film. True, it is directed toward younger kids, the scenes with the dog and baby are very funny... kind of like Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner. Jamie Kennedy does a good job of slowly going from self-centered to completely crazy to finally coming full-circle as a true father. Traylor Howard, though somewhat underused, is very attractive and funny in her own unique style. Alan Cumming, who is basically a human chameleon, puts forth the most entertaining character in the whole film. As Loki, the Norse God of Mischief, the theatrically trained actor brings a diversified and hilarious aspect to what could have been a one-note villain. Son of the Mask worth a watch and... ...

    An funny follow-up to The Mask

    If you like the Mask, you will enjoy the "Son of the Mask". It is the same principle, but now it is a baby who has the same powers as he is born with them. The fun begins as the bad guys try to get to him and he has his fun using his powers against the evil ones. It has some very funny parts and some adult humor as well.

    So...

    Ordered above said movie, and got Fat Albert instead and it was scratched not playable for the full double sided functions.

    Son of the Mask DVD

    My four year saw this movie on HBO and loved it. Its not a popular movie so I couldnt find it at any stores. I knew I would find it on ebay, and not pay a fourtune for it.This movie is great kid movie there is alot action, and great special effects. The first Mask movie catered more to an older audience. This sequel doesnt deal with crime, violence, or romantic scenes.
