Roots is about the slaves and their ancestors.
Very good movie. I can't believe the way the slaves were treated, or the way they were bought and sold and treated so badly. I think this may tend to bring racism back to the fore front of peoples minds and may incite anger, but it is a very good movie, that I have watched several times and wanted to add to my collection. I am caucasion and I was horrified by how African Americans or blacks were used and treated. This world has and had no place for slaves and racism. I couldn't treat an animal like that much less a human being, and that's what they were and are! For all racist out there, one day you will be in Heaven or Hell with them. God made them just as He made you. I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings or stepped on anyone's toes. It's just the ... Very good movie. The value and quality of Roots.
While there is legal, historical, and plagiarist issues with Alex Haley's Roots book, the series cannot be dismissed. Even if inaccurate this is a landmark story with a simple truth at its core. Oral history is very important, and has fallen away to such an extant. Roots shows that by having even a little history passed down can have a powerful effect even generations later and knowing where one came from is a gift. This is an important story, rewarding and stinging in turn. True Understanding.!
I watched this mini-series when it was aired on television and could not wait until the next episode aired, it was truely an eye opening experience and I now consider it a part of my education. I was born in the 50's and I can tell you that it was quite a different world at that time, unfortunately at the time I think most people thought that it was just the way things should be until the 60's when it became time for change, the U.S. was in a war that we really didn't understand and there was unrest in the streets. Anyone who wondered about the plight of people of color should watch this film to fully understand and adjust their way of thinking, it's all about being Human...I watched this mini-series when it was aired on television and could not wait until the next episode aired, it was truely an eye opening experience and I now consider it a part of my education. Great choice, great price
I purchased this product as a gift for my sister, and also to add to my own library. I have not watched it yet but my sister did and was very satisfied with it. There were no glitches and she said the picture quality was excellent: "Very vivid" were her exact words& no scenes were cut. I chose this 25th Anniversary Edition rather than the later editions because customer reviews said that the later editions were cut. This is a good choice at a great price.I purchased this product as a gift for my sister, and also to add to my own library. I have not watched it yet but my sister did and was very satisfied with it. What can I say, everyone knows the title ROOTS!
Expected a copped up, "reedited" version, but to my surprise, it was just as good this time as the original
