Review-HP Color Laser Printer cp1518
I wanted a network laser printer (priority 1) for roughly 300$ (maybe a little higher if needed). Next (priority 2), I either wanted an 11x17 monochrome paper output or a color 8.5x11. I looked at the HP-4V (11x17), but was told to avoid it since HP didn't make any more parts for it. I then looked at the HP 8150n (11x17, b&w, network) but found the price (595$ used, reconditioned with warranty) too high. I then chose the cp1518 (8.5x11, color, network). I saved almost 100$ exactly by buying the cp1518 printer thru Ebay instead of Staples. The cp1518 printer is a bit noisier than the old HP 4V. You can set the windows driver up to print everything in monochrome, which prevents your color cartridges from being used. This reduces the cost to close to that of the HP-5L, which the ... I am told that there are a gazillion (a million billion?-Cary Grant) other printers that work faster, cost less, etc. I chose the HP brand due to previous experience with them, as their printer cartridges have the drum and toner replaced as a unit. CONCLUSION-This is an affordable printer as long as you print color ONLY when you really need it. It is excellent for home use or a small office with just a few people accessing it. I recommend the HP-cp1518 product and am very pleased with it.

HP CP1518 a great deal IF you can get it installed.
I was in the market for a color laser printer and I had space problems. I needed a printer that was not too tall and had ethernet connectivity. Those two requirements alone eliminated almost every model on the market. What was left became a decision on price. The HP CP1518 was the best solution and I have not been disappointed. The toner cartridges (4) are located on an easily pulled out tray for easy replacement. The print quality is excellent for what I am using the printer. The larger paper drawer far exceeds what I had on a deskjet printer. Print speed is also faster the the replaced deskjet. The only difficulty I experienced was the installation of the printer drivers. The accompanying CD had flash video instructions and everything, but when the installation balked at the ... I was in the market for a color laser printer and I had space problems. I needed a printer that was not too tall and had ethernet connectivity. No matter what I did, the install program gave an error message that it could not complete the process. It always found the printer in a search and always went through 3 out of 4 steps. But failing for some unknown reason, it then proceeded to uninstall itself. After 5 or six tries, turning off everything - all programs, etc - I discovered that if I ignored the error message that said the install could not be completed and "x"ed out of that error message, not allowing the program to continue and uninstall itself, the printer drivers were, in fact, installed and present. The printer prints perfectly. I recreated the same scenario on three other machines all using this same network printer connected directly to the router. Each time I ignored the error message. The result - the printer works from all stations. The printer I would rate as excellent, but the whole experience was slightly diminished by the bug in the install cd.

A great alternative to Inkjet printing
It took about 5 minutes to setup the printer on our network and 5 minutes to set up our 4 computers to print on the device (2 ethernet desktops and 2 wifi laptops, all using Lubuntu). We don't print much but we need our printer to be ready at all time just in case. Contrary to all our past inkjet printers, the ink does dry and the device has not failed producing very good printouts. So far, we did not have to change the toners so I cannot judge using refilled cartridges ( a big no no on inkjet printers if you want to maintain a consistent print quality). My experience is that older HP's (like the classic HP Laserjet II & III printers) held up mechanically, were more reliable (over time) and easier to maintain than newer models so I decided to simply replace mine (it experienced hardware failure) if possible. This printer was a snap to set up (switch out cables and load ink cartridges). Since I already had the driver for it loaded all I needed to do was connect the network cable, enter the IP address and I was up and running. Other than a few cosmetic blemishes it works as expected with no issues. For me, it was a good purchasing decision.This printer is a replacement for the same model. Color laserJet printer
Good value for the money. This machine was bought to replace another just like it that had started to print in a misaligned manner. This is about a $300.00 printer originally, so for $45 dollars, I can now use the $150 worth of toner I had stockpiled for it. Happy all around.
