I believe I left positive feedback...is writing a "review" something new? I'm not a movie critic.
An outstanding romantic film: "romantic" not so much in the sense of being exclusively about romantic love, but something more complex: Zhivago loves two women very much: his "cousin" who's not really related by blood but by family upbringing. When his mother dies when he is a young boy, with a father who has no part in the young child's life, the mother's best friends (with a young girl child of the same age as young Yuri Zhivago) grow up as brother & sister, predictably marry, have a child, and deal well with hardships imposed by the Russian Revolution. Dr. Zhivago's medical practice takes him somewhat unwillingly into the center of the medical hardships and human tragidies which follow in the deep social upheaval of Russia in the early 20th century. He meets and falls in love with a ... The romance is multi-personal... loving two women deeply but unable to control the larger events of their lives during the Russian revolution, with economic and social forces turned on their heads against the injustices of the centuries-old Russian stratified social world dominated by the landed and economically and politically dominent aristocracy. A wonderful movie...perhaps my favorite in this genre. I can't recommend it strongly enough - its history, its romantic love, its patriotism, and the predictable but nevertheless terribly sad ending.

Dr. Zhivago: My FAVORITE Movie of ALL Time!!! :)
I was an impressionable young girl of just 15 when my Uncle took me to see Dr. Zhivago on the big screen at its 1965 premier showing. I sat there, absolutely mesmerized throughout the nearly 3 1/2 hours! If someone had told me beforehand that it was about the Russian Revolution, I probably would've passed on going ... but the way that Boris Pasternak tells it, with so much passion and romance, set in breathtaking scenery, accompanied by a music soundtrack that still gives me goosebumps (in a very good way!) ... well, cinema just doesn't get any better! Oh, and Omar Sharif and Julie Christie ~ SIGH!!! Need I say more?! This movie has GOT to be THE best history lesson I've ever had the pleasure of learning! Hi there! I'm afraid this will not be a very useful review of the product. Ya see, I'm cheap. I usually turn off the TV cable box overnight. The light and heat burn up electricity needlessly. Well, during TCM's "31 Days of Oscar" month, my wife set up Doctor Zhivago to record at some odd hour of the morning. It is one of her top fifteen favorite movies, as you know. Well, ol' Cheapo turned off the box and the movie didn't record. When my wife found out, she was disappointed but not upset. No big deal. Well, I felt bad about it and looked it up on ebay. So, after a quick and easy transaction, my wife has a copy of the movie she can watch any time she wants. I don't get the attraction myself. We watched it together once, and I think I slept through a patch in the middle. But ... Hi there! I'm afraid this will not be a very useful review of the product. Ya see, I'm cheap. Wonderful film which I watched in the cinema many years ago. Great to be able to see it again. Omar Sharif and Julie Christie were awesome.

A TRUE CLASSIC
Dr. Z is a sweeping saga with a great love story thrown in. It was also a thinly vailed damnation of the evils of communism. The DVD itself was a listed in the auction and shipped super fast.
