Chopping Mall DVD
Prior to purchasing this film on DVD,I had only had it on VHS.I'm happy that I now also own the DVD.There are a couple of really sexy scenes in this film and it's great to be able to see them on DVD.My player has a "zoom" option which allows me to enlarge the picture for even more enjoyment.Although it was used,I got a good price on this DVD.I couldn't care less about the violence in the film.I got this DVD for the beautiful women,especially the lovely Suzanne Slater.I wonder whatever happened to her.Prior to purchasing this film on DVD,I had only had it on VHS.I'm happy that I now also own the DVD.There are a couple of really sexy scenes in this film and it's great to be able to see them on DVD.My player has a "zoom" option which allows me to enlarge the picture for even more enjoyment.Although it was used,I got a good price on this DVD.I couldn't care less about the violence in the film.I got this DVD for the beautiful women,especially the lovely Suzanne Slater.I wonder whatever happened to her.

The Citizen Kane of Killer Robot Security Guard Films
I often get looks of disbelief when I mention that Chopping Mall is my favorite film. I get even more when I explain the plot: a group of teens are hounded by killer robots at the old school, vallied-out Sherman Oaks Galleria. Produced by Roger and Julie Corman, before Concorde began their descent into direct-to-video and television productions, Chopping Mall has all the hallmarks of an '80s slasher: ridiculous killers (why is the robotic rent-a-cop armed with C4?), bad fashion, even worse dialogue, and a large helping of T&A, with some extra gore for kicks (check out the infamous head explosion - so great they repeat it in the credits!). In and of itself, this makes for a great "bad movie night", but a surprising wit accompanies the campy exploitation. Cameos by cult icons Mary Woronov ... Cameos by cult icons Mary Woronov (Death Race 2000, Eating Raoul), Paul Bartel (Eating Raoul, Amazon Women on the Moon), and Dick Miller (Little Shop of Horrors, Gremlins), and references to everything from Sam Peckinpah to Corman's back catalogue exemplify this smart self-reference. The result is an incredibly silly, but incredibly charming b-picture. Unfortunately, its track record on the home market isn't so hot. Originally released by Lightning Video/Vestron in 1986, Chopping Mall eluded the digital market (save a near-legendary Japanese DVD that commanded well over $50 the one time I saw it on eBay) due to an old-fashioned legal mess (let's see...Lions Gate owns Artisan who owns Vestron's back catalogue, but New Concorde owns the film's negative and other archival materials, and they won't let go because they wanted to make their own DVD). Long story short: that ancient, full-frame video master is the source for this release. Luckily, Lions Gate makes up for it by scrounging up some goodies of their own: a featurette on the creation of the robots, a fun audio commentary with writer/director Jim Wynorski covering every aspect of the film's production history - including its disastrous run as Killbots (and you thought Chopping Mall was a bad title!), and the original theatrical trailer (with some alternate footage). Best of all, Chopping Mall streets for $15, and frequently graces shelves for $10 or even less. So, even if it isn't your favorite, it won't cost you an arm and a leg.

This is a good older movie that is entertaining to watch.

Fun 80's Horror Flick
I grew up watching these cheesy little 80's flicks. This is a great one. The acting, of course, is not some of the best. It stars Kelli Maroney, from another 80's Horror flick (Night of the Comet). It is about a new mall security system--killer robots. They are a regular, non-deadly security system until lightning hits the main reactor controlling them. Of course, a bunch of horny teenagers decide to spend the night in the mall, and guess what?...You guessed it...Mayhem, blood, sex, and killer robots. It is a beautiful mix.
