Tecmo revisits a character from the arcades, NES, and Atari Lynx in this new 3D adventure for the PlayStation 2. Players take on the role of legendary warrior Rygar as he fights mythological beasts and foes throughout locales inspired by Ancient Greece. The island of Argus has plunged into chaos with the abduction of Princess Harmonia at the mighty hands of the Titans. Equipped with a multipurpose shield called the Diskarmor, Rygar sets out to free Princess Harmonia from captivity and restore peace to his home. <br><br>As Rygar advances through shrines, coliseums, and mysterious labyrinths, he will develop new moves and abilities. Rygar can learn to slide to squeeze through narrow passageways, stomp on enemies or objects, push or lift items, and use the Diskarmor to hang from ledges, grapple onto objects and then swing across chasms. Attacks involve pressing various button combinations, the result of which vary depending on the Diskarmor's abilities at the time. Rygar can power-up his magical shield and use it as a projectile weapon as well as for defense.<br><br>Rygar can also call upon the help of familiars to assist in battle, such as Cerberus or a Siren, to burn or to freeze enemies. Up to four relics called mystic stones can be acquired and attached to the Diskarmor to increase Rygar's attack and defense, or to grant him added abilities. Defeating enemies and smashing objects will reveal power-ups and points used to enhance the Diskarmor as well as equipped familiars and mystic stones. As players advance through levels by breaking magic seals and defeating enemies, they must defeat a series of boss characters until Princess Harmonia is found. The Moscow International Symphony Orchestra helps bring the action to life with an original soundtrack featuring soprano singer Izzy Cooper.

Just threw it in plastic and hoped for the best. I'm grateful that it arrived undamaged but I recon the item didn't garner enough profit to include sufficient packaging and protection. The worst part was a foul odor when opening the case. I sensed a wet basement aroma that was very unpleasant and happens to be the first time ever receiving an item with such an unpleasant stinch. I'm only neutral because the game worked but it also came with condensation marks.

ship thousands of games a year no your game did not deserve more protection than it got. just as you said it arrived to you safe and works no issues i will add to list of blocked buyers so this issue does not happen again thanks so much

Your best offense is a good defense. Literally in this case, as you use a shield for your primary weapon. Rygar is a straight forward action title that will entertain, but not amaze you. WHAT'S GOOD The action - It's steady and it's fun to take on the bad guys. You get a decent selection of combos to build in your repertoire and execute. It's quick to say, but since it makes up a bulk of the game, it's important that it's fun, and it is. It's not revolutionary, or engrossing or amazing. It's good, and it's fun, but it didn't really draw me in or make me think it was awesome. Platforming elements - Although I walked away feeling like this was primarily an action game, there is a decent amount of platforming elements in the game. Shields & their Customization - If you find them, there are magic stones you can collect to increase various aspects of the 3 different shields that are available to you. You can use points to upgrade the effectiveness of your shields attacks. Each shield also provides a different attack strategy. One is good for close combat and hits really fast, one for long range and hits at a moderate speed, and one for attacking multiple enemies and covering a lot of ground with one swing but is rather slow. Graphics - The landscapes and monsters look good as far as I'm concerned. I was particularly impressed with the look of the minotaur boss. WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER The camera - Even though it does pivot a little bit, it's essentially stationary. The camera angles change automatically as you move from area to area. For the most part the game is built to handle it very well, but there are times where it causes confusion or will change (or not change) at inconvenient times. Longevity - Although the combat is fun, and you learn new combos along the way, things don't get mixed up too much. And although the environments look nice, they don't offer a whole lot of variety as you move forward. Some may say the game is too short, but given these items I say it was just long enough. The lack of intensity to me means that it would have gotten boring had it lasted any longer. Backtracking - You have to do it. I'm not a big fan of backtracking, and in some cases I found it confusing with this game. Length - Although I'm not dissuaded by short games, it's fair warning to say that this one is very short. It took me about 5 hours to complete, and I'll admit that I was dragging my heals on a couple of levels. It's a respectfully fun 5 hours, which to me is good because it's better than dragging on. Others however may wind up feeling short-changed. FINAL WORD A enjoyable romp in a Greek Mythology inspired world. Even though I wouldn't go spending a lot of money on a copy, I would still recommend picking it up, or at least renting it. The developers do attempt to provide a reason to go back and revisit the levels once you've beat the game, however I don't think you'll feel the need to; at least not right away. A welcome title in my library, it's a straight forward, simple, entertaining action, and I'd say worth a look - even if it will be a quick one.

Great retro fun for the money.
This game is a remake of a popular 80s game by the same name. The Playstation2 version has decent graphics and responsiveness. At the reduced prices one might get it for on half.com or ebay, around $5.00, it's an amazing value and must have for anyone who loves 80s or remade 80s games. The other 80s/remade 80s games I also have that are in a similar retro vein are R-Type and Gradius V - both lots of fun too!This game is a remake of a popular 80s game by the same name. Greek Mythology comes to Life
Excellent game, fast moving, as you walk from one place to another fighting different creatures along the way, fantastic scenery,awesome action, graphics that are stunning. and best of all you can save your progress in certain areas. Surely will be a favorite for those who enjoy action, adventure, and some challenges. Greek myths come to life, hope you have as much fun as I do. This game is not extremely easy, but not that difficult to play. I have not conquored the game, but it is still fun.Excellent game, fast moving, as you walk from one place to another fighting different creatures along the way, fantastic scenery,awesome action, graphics that are stunning. and best of all you can save your progress in certain areas. Much better than my old nintendo nes version.
Both of my kids like to play this and even let me play. I was a big fan of Rygar for the NES, and bought that about a year ago. Mine from childhood was long gone. This version is great. The product is great and the shipping was fast.
