Oliver Stone's self-proclaimed "countermyth," JFK mocks the doubtful veracity of the Warren Commission's findings on the Kennedy assassination and summarizes some of the myriad theories that have been proposed in its contest. Focusing on the investigation by New Orleans district attorney Jim Garrison (Kevin Costner) into the activities of the FBI and other government agencies as well as their attempted cover-ups, Stone weaves fact and speculation into a compelling argument for the reopening of the case files. Garrison begins to investigate local links to the assassination, including Clay Shaw (Tommy Lee Jones), David Ferrie (Joe Pesci), Guy Bannister (Ed Asner), Perry Russo (Kevin Bacon), and Lee Harvey Oswald (Gary Oldman). When the accounts of Ferrie, Russo, and others almost invariably diverge from the FBI versions of events, Garrison begins to suspect a cover-up. Widening his net, he interviews many of the original assassination witnesses and again finds little that coincides with the government's record. Combining interviews with an analysis of the physical evidence, Garrison's team posits the existence of a conspiracy to kill the president. A mysterious Col. X (Donald Sutherland) implies the orchestration of the conspiracy at the highest levels of government, and Garrison is ready to go to trial. Stone deploys video, different film stocks shot at varying speeds, and a dizzying style of montage while harnessing the talents of a large and extraordinary cast to create a film of undeniable power and excitement.

This movie has been seen by millions of people and the most amazing thing to me is that people are so anxious to believe the most unbelievable, over the obvious. President Kennedy has been portrayed as a hero, a super president, a world statesman, etc. We all know better than that today. He was a human being and didn't deserve to have half of his head blown off, but other than that, he was the son of a corrupt politician and bootlegger. His father was a money man for gangsters and he was the spoiled rotten son who never worked a day in his life. He was the president though, and although it probably never will be proven, his many enemies in Washington D.C., and those in New Orleans and Miami equally had reasons to want him dead. New Orleans D.A., Jim Garrison, put together a good case ... New Orleans D.A., Jim Garrison, put together a good case of circumstantial evidence, and his conspiracy theory wasn't proven. However, any good conspiracy theory is almost always difficult to prove. In truth, LBJ had no loss of love for JFK; J.Edgar Hoover was LBJ's best friend and neighbor for years, and hated the Kennedys; Stolen ballots (approx. 400,000) from Chicago, which were probably mostly Republican, were never tabulated. Who was in Dallas on the morning of the Kennedy assassination? Obviously Kennedy and Johnson were there. J.Edgar Hoover was there and left about 11:00 AM for DC. Gerald Ford was there also. Richard Nixon was at a PEPSI COLA board meeting. Now, Just consider. . . Kennedy is shot,. . . Johnson becomes president, . . . Nixon is elected after Bobby Kennedy was shot,. . .When Nixon's VP, Spiro Agnew resigned under fire, Nixon picked Ford for his VP,. . . Nixon resigns, and Gerald Ford becomes president. Gerald Ford was one of the architects of the Warren Commission Report. On the other side of the DC connection, there is the Mafia connection. It has been suggested that Mafia leaders in Florida, New Orleans, Chicago, and L.A. may have had good reason to have Kennedy killed for any number of reasons; Payback for billions lost in Cuba; Failure to follow-up and live up to promises made to major gangsters in both LA and Chicago for union support in the 1960 election; as reprisal for "kidnap" deportation of Carlos Marcello by Bobby Kennedy. The idea was put forward that killing Bobby meant nothing. Cut off the dog's head (JFK), not the tail (RFK). Jim Garrison probably would never have proven anything. The U.S. Govt. would never have allowed that. Anybody with an ounce of common sense can smell this whole case from a mile away, it stinks. To suggest that Oswald worked alone is unbelievable, but it has been proven, BEYOND ANY SHADOW OF DOUBT, that the kill shot was fired from behind and above (2011), and that there is NO WAY that any shot fired from the "Grassy Knoll" would not have also hit Jackie Kennedy too. As hard as it is to believe, modern laser technology proves that the frames of the Zapruder film verify the firing position. It has been suggested that Oswald was not in the sixth floor at the time of the shooting, just set up to take the fall. This was a strong movie and many interesting facts were brought out, but still, the only thing proven is that a shooter, or a team of shooters, shot Kennedy from the book depository building. Good Movie.

This starts out slow~ Costner slides along and discovers a tie in between a former FBI / Detective (Ed Asner) had files on covert CIA activities attempting to bring down CASTRO~ dragging in Dave Ferrie (excellent Joe Pesci) as a gay former CIA black ops member who knows where all the bodies are buried~ reluctantly~ Ferrie reveals there was hatred of Kennedy after the BAY of PIGS where a FAILED INVASION OF CUBA~ left hundered of anti castro backed by the CIA~ rotten in CASTROS prisons~ MY advice is pay attention. this moves ... Jim Garrison (Costner) is a real life person. The rest is theory and fact blended into a good story and interesting version of what COULD HAVE HAPPENED but has not been supported by fact or people. the real thing is every one was shut up either by murder or fearing for their lives ~ loaded with stars from Kevin Beacon~ Ed Asner~ Jack Lemon, Costner~ Lorie Metcalf~ and the scene stealer here is JOE PESCI~ and the ADD hyper~ gay man~ who is wonderful as the man who is openly gay but hides for his life~ because everyone is out to KILL him~ also Donald Southerland has a bit part as a SECRET OPs who directs Costner in the right direction~ I GIVE THIS 5 STAR FOR STORY~ WRITING AND INTESTING LOOK INTO THEORY AND VERY GOOD ACTING ALL AROUND ESPECIALLY PESCI~

This film explains a lot. It explains the "Why" question we all wonder about. Especially the trial sequence, and the film shot by a bystander that most Americans have never seen. I recommend it.
