À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Academy Award-winner Larry McMurtry offers his most ambitious Western novel since Lonesome Dove Nobody writes better about the West than Larry McMurtry, and in Telegraph Dayshe offers the big novel of Western gunfighters that people have been hoping for years he would write. When Nellie Courtright and her brother Jackson are unexpectedly orphaned by their father's suicide, they make their way to the nearby town of Rita Blanca. Once there, Jackson manages to secure a job as a sheriff's deputy, while the ever resourceful Nellie becomes the town's telegrapher. Together, they inadvertently put Rita Blanca on the map when young Jackson succeeds in shooting down all six of the ferocious Yazee brothers in a gunfight that brings him lifelong fame but which he can never repeat because his success came purely out of luck. Nellie almost conquers the heart of Buffalo Bill, the man she will love most in her long life, and goes to meet, and witness the exploits of Billy the Kid, the Earp brothers, and Doc Holliday.

"A darn good read: an entertaining spoof about the Wild West that brings alive the romance of outlaws, gunfighters and shootouts.... • Light and wistful western

This is the first McMurtry book I have read since the Lonesome Dove series. I can't rate it as high as the Lonesome series because, naturally the Lonesome series was a very INDEPTH story. Book this was a light and wistful story. Full of cute humor. I think this book would be the 'chick-flick- of western novels. The characters were believeable and loveable. The main character Nellie was a little over concerned about securing proper copulation, as she put it, which made me do the eye roll after a few chapters, but actually it was a humurous and NOT Vulgar. The book invites alot of the true Wild West Outlaws in which the main character had a run in and usually gets the best of. I would rate this book as a fun book. I usually sell or trade in my books when I am finished, but not this ...

  • Perfection

I thought the price was a little high but the reader and the story line were AWESOME!

  • A good lite listen

Annie Potts is very good in the reading of this book which is not one of Larry McMurty's best. The story takes us through some stories of the old west from the narrators perspective without adding much to the story we know. No new light was shed on the Gunfight at the OK corral, we already knew the story, it seems like filler.

  • Typical Larry McMurtry

This Audio disk is one of the most cleverly written and spoken audio books I've had by McMurtry. As in Lonesome Dove, the characters are developed and have distinct personalities. The actor speaking the book is superb.

  • Telegraph Days By Larry McMurtry

I loved Annie Potts reading, she really gets you into the story. Very good read,if youn like the old west, this one is for you.
