However, that first part is absolutely breathtaking in its scope and originality. I genuiunely felt that "watcher-of-new-planet-in-the-skies" feeling on numerous occasions. Bearing in mind it took Booker over 30(!) years to write, this is a seminal achievement. It also made me want to read, or re-read a number of the books he refers to. Well worth the money.
