Fantastic resource for Weddings, Parties and Teas
This book is an absolute must have. It is the first book I pull if I have to plan a party or help with weddings. If you are involved in catering in anyway, in a casual or professional manner, you will find this book invaluable. The imagery is wonderful,packed on each page instead of one dish and recipe per page like so many other cookbooks recently have seemed to do. Martha gives you multiple dishes per photo and tips on how to display so the entire experience can be recreated. Wonderful ideas. Wedding cake recipes and basic recipes that you can use to create many many different types of dishes. Entertaining from casual to formal all in one book.This book is an absolute must have. Beautiful book, outdated recipes, 4 true Martha fans!
I really didn't LOVE anything about the book, but it does show basic technique. It shows you how to plan a party, how to prepare party foods, how to decorate, and how to set a table and set up a buffet. The pictures are beautiful as well. What I disliked about it was, it is outdated. The foods prepared are not "fashionable " anymore. The entertaining style in this book is all a bit too formal as well. I decided to buy the book because I love all things "Martha Stewart". On her show she refers to this book often. So, I thought I would buy it as a basic repertoire on entertaining of all types. I knew it would be outdated by today's standards, but I thought more basic, more timeless recipes would be in it. If you love Martha Stewart, you will love the book. It is a good "read" that ... I love history and this truly is that
Love the nostalgia of this awesome book. It was in great condition also..... Martha (even though I'm not her biggest fan) has had this talent for a very long time, acknowledging that she also has a huge staff that carries out all her creativity.... That said.... if you're into this stuff, you cannot go wrong.... Also, it's strictly about entertaining.... not everyday stuff.

Great book!
Thanks to ENTERTAINING we hosted a wonderful book talk dinner party. Our group read A GENTLEMAN OF MOSCOW. We based the dinner party the cookbook's Russian dinner party ideas. Since it was such a success we plan to read other books with Marth's dinner ideas in mind that way we can again meet and cook a meal that corresponds to our novel

This book has a special meaning for me. When my future husband proposed to me, I used this book to prepare all the food for our engagement party. It still holds a special, intimate meaning for me, and since we have 2 daughters from our, still thriving, 28 year marriage, I wanted to have TWO COPIES to share with our girls. This is MARTHA'S FIRST BOOK.....so it sets the standard for her career. SusanThis book has a special meaning for me.
