A Fun Sonic Game That Stays True to the Storyline
This is just a fun Sonic game that doesn't try and break any rules. You've got Sonic, you've got Tails, you've got Engman enslaving small creatures and trying to take over a world. Like in other Sonics, collecting enough Chaos Emeralds and Rings allows you to turn into Super Sonic, this game has a similar transformation but doesn't require you to have to do 8 special levels perfectly to appreciate a fun part of the game. Transformations occur by finding these cute little aliens scattered perfectly throughout each level. Some let you dig through the ground, some let you run super fast and one even lets you go on a "Frenzy" turning Sonic into a purple beast alien munching everything in sight! My 6 year old absolutely loved the game, my wife and I loved the game and we'd recommend it to ... This is just a fun Sonic game that doesn't try and break any rules. Sonic's Back
People say that Sonic will never make the switch to 3D. After SA2's release, SEGA gave us some horrendous games like Sonic the Hedgehog (06), Unleashed, Black Knight, Secret Rings. It made people (including me) think that the Sonic franchise was dead. Colors was a last attempt at rebooting the franchise and instead of putting the final nail in the coffin, It resurrected the blue hedgehog. Graphics- Colors has (imo) the best graphics the Wii has seen yet. Sometimes it feels like im playing on a 360 or PS3. Story- Sonic games never really came up with an interesting story. Its usually just Eggman doing something evil and sonic there to stop him. So its just a basic storyline with Eggman harnessing power from other planets. With Sonic Colors to look back to, theres no doubt that Sonic's 20th anniversary game will be a good one. This game including Sonic 4 have helped Sonic make a comeback. I HIGHLY reccomend this game if you own a Wii.

Fun but Flawed
Sonic Colors is a fun but flawed game. The graphics are bright and colorful, as the title would suggest, but the gameplay is very basic and stripped of the depth that Sonic games used to be known for. The story is an absolute joke. The writing comes across like a Saturday morning cartoon and the voice acting is not that great either (except Mike Pollock, who gives a fantastic performance as Eggman like always). And these complaints I have for Colors would continue to plague Sonic games for nearly a decade, which makes it even worse. All I can say is, we likely wouldn't have gotten Forces had it not been for Colors. Sonic Colors is enjoyable for a little while if you want some surface level fun, but you likely won't be returning to it again and again like you would for Sonic 3 and ... The colors feel so right.
What a journey Sonic the Hedgehog has been through over the years, a journey unfortunately filled with far far too much mediocrity. It's no secret in the gaming world that Sonic has gone through rough times with not necessarily terrible but otherwise bad, and mediocre games. But all that might as well go out the window with this all new installment exclusive to the Nintendo Wii. Sega seems to have really listened to exactly what players want and so they brought in their well put together Hedgehog engine first introduced in Sonic Unleashed for all new fast paced action. Despite the game being extremely fast, furious, and hectic, one might be surprised to learn that the game has an extremely strong emphasis on platforming, requiring you to not just run, jump over obstacles, and ... In truly classic styling, Sonic's adventure includes amazing new "Color Powers" given to him by the help of his new friends, the Wisps who grant a variety of different abilities. The quality of the story is questionable at best. Sonic and Tails are out to stop the evil Dr. Eggman from using their new alien friends to power his space station amusement park. It's odd, and it gets even odder when you listen to the dialogue with copious amounts of one liners, nods to the audience, and banter from Sonic making him sound like a 1990s cartoon character. It's enough to make one do a facepalm but it's strangely charming considering how Sonic was made a household name with his comic book series, and cartoon series back in the 1990s. The kookiness of the dialogue and story... it all just feels right, but some might not think so, making this narrative an acquired taste. Graphically, wii processing power isn't used to it's best with character models, however the environments are a sight to behold; all bright and colorful but thankfully not impairing to gameplay. Needless to say it's such a breath of fresh air in a market saturated with games nesting in the color range of dirt and mortar. Music is par for the course of Sonic games, utterly excellent; with some fantastic and memorable background music. This music is so good it made this reviewer consider purchasing the original soundtrack. The games one true shortcoming is that a lot of people will get frustrated with all of the trial and error, which isn't too much of a problem considering that's one of the hallmarks of platforming action games. Another con to this game is how short it is. There are over 6 zones, with 6 stages each, and numerous challenges to partake in but the main story can be completed in a matter of a day. Level rankings, red ring collecting, and the Sonic Simulator help to lengthen gameplay, which if you enjoy a lot of challenge will give the game much more content, as well as a super special surprise upon completion. Sonic Colors is a solid game, a must own title for any and every Wii owner. Even surrounded by Mario Galaxy, Donkey Kong Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Epic Mickey, other wii platform games, this should definitely be near the top of your most wanted list.

One of the Sonic games which was actually good
The graphics were top-tier as far as the Wii is concerned, and the Color-powers were an interesting new addition to the series. The writing, however, was mediocre at best, with the two running gags of Tails' wonky translator and Cubot's malfunctioning voice-chip getting absolutely run into the ground over the course of the game. Overall, a generally positive experience.
