Firefighters (2003 Hardcover)
The Firefighters (2003) book was a pleasant surprise, because it was so much nicer than I expected. It's a large, beautiful book which makes a great addition to a firefighter's library. This copy, although a used copy, looked brand new. It was a surprise Christmas gift for my son, who has been a Tulsa firefighter for almost 25 years. Not knowing whether or not he already had a copy, I was very pleased when he opened the gift and said he didn't own a copy of it. Firefighting is a family tradition with us... My grandfather retired from the TFD, my father retired from the TFD, my son is the Deputy Fire Chief with TFD, and my grandson is a fireman in a Tulsa suburb. GREAT HARD TO FIND BOOK!!!
I'm a firefighter in a suburb of Chicago and hope to get on Chicago one day. I started the job at 15 and am currently 20 years old. I love the job with a passion and this book will always remind me of what firefighting really is like. The pictures are amazing; full color, big, and there are a variety of them. From paintings to movie posters. The Information in this book is also tremendous!! I mean come on....over 300 pages?? Thats a TON of info. From everything from the history of firefighting to the current day of post-9/11 firefighting. This book makes a great gift for anybody. I am most positive that retired firefighters will enjoy it but they are not the only ones. Great for retirement gifts. This book will definetly make the past, present, or future member of the fire ... I'm a firefighter in a suburb of Chicago and hope to get on Chicago one day. Purchased this for my son, a recent graduate of fire school. Beautifully crafted, inside and out - rich embossed cover, clean binding, rich papers. The content - both photographic and essay - is excellent, cover to cover. The stories will both warm your heart and make you cry; witness the trials and long recovery of a firefighter who suffered serious burns when he answered the call to duty. Highly recommend this for anyone interested in the firefighting profession, past and present. A true tribute to these heroes.Purchased this for my son, a recent graduate of fire school.
