Product Information

Nominated as one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read "50 Most Impactful Black Books Of The Last 50 Years" -- Essence Renowned hip-hop artist, political activist, and bestselling author Sister Souljah brings the streets of New York to life in a powerful and utterly unforgettable first novel. I came busting into the world during one of New York's worst snowstorms, so my mother named me Winter. Ghetto-born, Winter is the young, wealthy daughter of a prominent Brooklyn drug-dealing family. Quick-witted, sexy, and business-minded, she knows and loves the streets like the curves of her own body. But when a cold Winter wind blows her life in a direction she doesn't want to go, her street smarts and seductive skills are put to the test of a lifetime. Unwilling to lose, this ghetto girl will do anything to stay on top. Featuring a Special Collector's Edition Reader's Guide--including an author Q&A, detailed character analyses, and the author's own remarks about the meaning of her story.

If a rap song could be a novel, it might resemble the coldest winter ever." -- Booklist, Kirkus ReviewThe Coldest Winter Ever is a tour de force...As finely tuned to its heroine's voice as Alice Walker's The Color Purple...Riveting stuff, with language so frank it curls your hair., "Real and raw.... • A wonderful Book

This is a wonderful book I read this book a few years ago. I got so into the book I couldn't put it down. The story was really good and there were times while reading the story that you wish you could slap the girl across the face a few times for being stupid and do really stupid things in her life. But basically she had no one to blame but herself. I'm just surprised the book was never made into a movie so all these dumb young girls could see themselves in winter. Also so they can learn to not make dumb decisions in life. I just had to get this book again because I wanted to read the book again and add it to my little book collection.

  • Outstanding book!

If you love authors like Karen Quixones, Eric Jerome Dickey, and Zane, you will absolutely fall in love with this book. It is my all time favorite story with the craziest twist at the end..! I've read this book so many times and every time I read it I'm on the edge of my seat!! This is definitely an amazing book. Keep up the good work Sista Souljah!

  • The realest book ever! A must read

This is the realest book I ever read besides "Rich dad, poor dad". It made sense about the way Winter lived her life, because it relates to a lot of young woman that live the fast life and then years later end up at a dead end. A must read!!!!!!!!! I read this book in 1 week.

  • Best fiction that I have ever read!

I read this book years ago and loved it. I bought this copy for my daughter as a gift for Christmas. Although this book is filled with adult situations, I believe that it is reflective of the attitudes of young women today and teaches many lessons about the "fast life".

  • Throw back

This book came in excellent condition. It's truely a classic
