  • Great Story, Misleading Total Time

Finally glad to add this TV miniseries to my collection, and I agree with all the other reviewers about the quality of the story, the acting, and the scenery, etc. The only thing I find fault with the DVD edition is it lists on the back cover "Approx. Feature Running Time 400 min. That totals OVER 6 HOURS!!! Therefore, you expect there is going to be a lot more story than what originally aired back in the 1980's. Part 1 DVD runs for 1 hour and 25 minutes, Part 2 is the same, and The Making Of.... segment is approx 25 minutes, so you add those together and you come up with 3 hours and 15 minutes, a long way from 6+ hours. So beware, if you see the total time listed, somebody misadded.

  • Not GWTW but what do expect

Scarlett is a good movie but if your a die hard Viven Leigh and Clark Gable fan in Gone With The Wind you probably are not going to love Scarlette the way you love Gone With the Wind. It took me twice to watch Gone With the Wind before I absolutely adored it-From the first time though I loved Scarlette and Rhett, disliked Ashley with a passion. You say Scarlette is manipultive not as much as Ashley is. He seems like the innocent one but if he had just told Scarlette he did not love her from the beginning then she could have been happy with Rhett. The sequel in truth should have been made soon after Gone With the Wind not over 60 years later. It would have been so much better with the orginal actors plaining the main parts. It is an enjoyable movie for the most part, you just cannot let ...

  • Very well done sequel. Its nice to have closure on the story.

Gone With the Wind was a great movie, but left you hanging. Its nice to have closure. Scarlett, the miniseries was very well done and well acted. Enjoyed it very much. The DVDs are out of print, but I was lucky enough to find an original set in excellent condition. That is the way to go to get the best viewing experience. I highly recommend it.

  • Purchase of new DVD - Scarlett

The DVD was delivered at an acceptable time. But, the DVD is low quality. The DVDs hang-up/stop at various points, skip scenes, and at some points quit and does not go forward to the end of the DVDs. I contacted the vendor and he agrees to forward another DVD if I return the one that he sent me. I plan to do that but have not had the time to do it yet. I am assuming that the DVD is not an orginal copy but one that has been copied from an orginal. I decided to buy the DVD because it was listed as "new." It was the first DVD that I've bought on Ebay and I assumed that it would be a direct factory DVD instead of a replica. It is an inconvenience for me to have to return the movie as well as an extra cost. I will be careful about purchasing DVDs on Ebay from this point forward.

  • Scarlett

This is a worthy sequel to "Gone With the Wind." Joanne Whalley-Kilmer and Timothy Dalton give outstanding performances. Whalley-Kilmer is a deliciously wicked Scarlett, and Dalton is a charming rogue (and "criminally handsome" as described by one of the characters.) Every supporting role is exquisitely done, and a pleasure to watch. Although the story is a little slow at the outset, it picks up the pace quickly, and there's something for everyone: spectacular scenery, romance, murder, mayhem, family chaos and personal tragedy. This is NOT "just a chick flick" by any means. Does Scarlett REALLY love Rhett, or does she just want him because she can't have him? The running time of more than 6 hours creates the dilemma of WHERE TO INTERRUPT THE STORY. Plan to invest an afternoon and ...
