The IntelliPower feature guides the spin speed, data transfer rate, and data caching of this WD internal SATA HDD. The IntelliSeek feature can reduce the power consumption rate of this 7,200 RPM WD5000AADS Caviar Green hard drive. It determines the best seek speed to reduce vibrations and power use, which allows the device to work as quietly and efficiently as possible. It can also boast a greater superficial density by using the advanced technology of perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR). The Western Digital 500GB drive can ensure protective operations throughout the device. It has a NoTouch ramp load that can ensure the recording head and disk media never touch.     Western Digital WD5000AADS (500 GB, SATA 2/SATA, 2 MB)

    This hard drive is functioning as it should. I have no complaints about it. I have found it to live up to its expectations. I purchased this hd to help me with my business. My old hd was unable to handle the amount of data my business is producing. I set them up as a raid but they seemed to be too heavy duty for my old P4P800 Deluxe motherboard which immediately gave up the ghost. As with most hard drives I do not expect to put more than 50% data on it. My sad experience has been that hard drives begin to be over taxed once the 50% usage level is attained. The space on this hd is ahead of most virus protection software and it takes a long time to do a virus scan. I would suggest that anyone who is going to use a hd of his size invest in virus protection software that is a little ...

    Want fast and green, buy the Western Digital Caviar Green 500 GB drive.

    This drive is big, fast, and kicks major ass. For what I paid, feels likes I stole it. It's also green, which will save anyone money on the utility bills. This is a SATA II hard disk drive, which makes it fast, but a little dated. But if you going from IDE to SATA, you will see a big difference in speed and everything else. If you're putting this on a older computer, like a 32-bit, you will not run at full speed, but it beats IDE anytime. This drive has 32MB cache running at 7200 RPM, which is good, but the Velociraptor is a SATA III hard disk drive with 64MB cache running at 10,000 RPM; which is also made by Western Digital. Want green, go with this drive; want fast, buy the Velociraptor along with a solid state hard drive for faster boot-up times. (Just don't be pissed off if your bills ...

    great drive, better than expected performance, computer soars on Win 7!

    This drive was a hot bid till the end. As the price hiked only a few remained lol. I was the winner so it was a pleasant surprise to see after a longer day at work. Even though this was put into a SATA 1 ready computer it still has solid performance and it makes a difference in the over all system. Well made and efficient Seagate makes some of the most solid drives in the world so my bid was well placed in general. Whom ever owned this used drive took very good care. Now I can donate this computer to someone recently in need of a desktop that wont break the bank. Solid performance with 32MB cache buffer and 7200rpm drive seeking. Even as a "green" drive it still wipes the floor with other brands of it's kind.

    Wonderful item

    Worked great. I was surpriesed at the speed for this standard hard drive . It took 3 seconds to boot windows completely. Running a heavy load on desktop. Shows no hesitation or bottlenecks. Photoshop running great. Playing games just as good to load. Playing games, hesitations are nonexistent. Im very happy with the price to performance ratio. I recommend this product to anyone who wants reliability and great work horse for there computers.

    Reliable, Quiet , Fast . Dependable .

    These "Green" hard drives are great . Very quiet operation , dependable , fast . I have two and am very happy with both . In the future on another rebuild I will purchase another of these .
