OK blend of prison & horror
The prison itself is definitely the star of this film. Huge, old, and creepy, it's the perfect setting for a prison movie or a horror film. But instead of choosing one or the other, FURNACE tries to be both, with mixed results. On the one hand, the horror premise is intriguing and the ghostly special effects are scary. On the other hand, the convicts (played convincingly by Ja Rule and Danny Trejo) seem to be acting in a different movie, a hardcore prison flick that doesn't mesh with the supernatural backstory. The plot has some logic lapses (if Simon is a convicted murderer, why do they let him mop the prison floor, unsupervised?) Two things that bothered me --- admittedly, personal peeves that may not bother you --- are as follows. 1. The scary scenes take place in total darkness, ... When a monster is attacking her boyfriend, the lead actress stands there watching and screaming for an extended period of time. I would have liked to see her help him, but I would have understood if she'd taken the cowardly way out and run away. Standing there and screaming makes no sense, because obviously if the monster kills your boyfriend, you're close by to serve as dessert! Over all, this is neither the best nor the worst horror movie I've seen. It's worth a look, but not worth seeing again and again.

Creepy!!
i bought this because my husband watched it out of town and said it was good. i have to agree. it was pretty creepy! i love horror movies of all kinds, and this is one i'm glad to have in my collection! some of the acting is mediokre, and i guess there could have been a little more character plot (like why did the detective have such a problem with miller?) could have used more details in this area, maybe a little more at the end too, but on the positive side, music, lighting, and special effects make it an excellent creepshow!!i bought this because my husband watched it out of town and said it was good. i have to agree. it was pretty creepy! i love horror movies of all kinds, and this is one i'm glad to have in my collection! some of the acting is mediokre, and i guess there could have been a little more character plot (like why did the detective have such a problem with miller?) could have used more details in this area, maybe a little more at the end too, but on the positive side, music, lighting, and special effects make it an excellent creepshow!!

this movie was a liitle spooky.it said based on actual events,but not sure as you will see if you watch the movie.if you are a ja rule fan get it to see him.story was good and the movie was entertaining.it was an intresting ghost story movie.worth a watch.
