Lotsa Good Reviews Here Already, I Bought Mine Based The Many Positive Responses! Gonna say this real pure and simple, the JOYO is a pleasant surprise, it is versatile and does most things right, the tone and crunch have a great voice, EZ to dial in your sound; in short, the Ultimate Drive does it better than so many of the old standard pedals that have a great name but not so great performance as you would expect! No, it is not an every man's overdrive pedal, and it is not for metal heads [we love ya], but most lead men really should give it a try, nothing to lose really! It's pretty and it works
This pedal was suggested to me by an EquipBoard article as a great overdrive pedal for the budget. Not so sure how it compares in terms of sound to the OCD Fulltone it supposedly copies (according to article), but it looks and feels great. I had only one tiny problem with the design of enclosure - the 9V battery compartment isn't isolated from the PCB, thus the paint from the battery gets scratched off every time you remove it - and at first I had problems removing the battery. Other than that - the white knobs on the black and red enclosure look nice and the switch and in/out jacks look way better than your every day standard stuff you can buy at the electronics parts store - so that's a nice touch. Cheaply made with issues
I bought this pedal to "audition" the Fulltone OCD. I also wanted to check it out, having seen decent reviews about it. Initially, I was impressed, but soon noticed that the overall tone was loose, brittle, and unfocused. When I used it at a rehearsal, it did not interact well with my delay pedal. With the delay on, the tone got thin and screechy. I tested this at home with other OD pedals, and the Joyo UD was the only one that did this. Changing the location in the FX chain helped, but didn't totally resolve this issue. I ran across the Freekish mods online and tried them. This improved the tone immensely. Unfortunately, the wiring from the switch to the main circuit board is so thin and flimsy, that the connections broke at the circuit board (even with careful handling). Maybe if you've ... Very Impressed
I am very impressed with this pedal. I was not expecting it to sound as good as it does. Coming through the amp's speaker it has a tendency to sound very thin, however when played through the amp's DI output into a computer or through headphones it sounds REALLY good. It's very easy to get something that sounds like AC/DC, Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath just by playing around with the settings for a half hour or so. It's also pretty well built compared to other cheap pedals I have, it's made of metal. Maybe not the best pedal for a live performance but definitely worthwhile for recording or playing at home.I am very impressed with this pedal. I was not expecting it to sound as good as it does. Great pedal amazing price!!!
Rich, full, thick O.C.D. TONE at a fraction of the price. It gives body to my P90s, even when out of phase. It's churny, violin like tone with girth. At this price there is no reason why you shouldn't get this right away! You will love it!
