Microsoft Flight Simulator X is the tenth installment of the popular Microsoft Flight Simulator series of video games. It was released on October 10th, 2006 with both a standard version and a deluxe edition. Each version of the flight simulator had a base of 18 aircraft and 28 detailed cities, along with 24,000 real-world airports to use. The deluxe edition ups the number of planes to 24 and the number of detailed cities to 38. It is capable of running on Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. It offers a realistic simulation experience and features 24 planes and 38 cities. In addition to free play, this is the first game to offer missions that serve as objectives and tutorials. Players can also save their games where they left off and proceed from whichever airport they last landed at.This deluxe edition offers a wealth of features you won't find anywhere else. The planes and places within the game are highly detailed with an emphasis on a realistic flight. Each plane is carefully modeled, with physics, acceleration, and handling as close as possible to the real machines. Graphical fidelity has been improved. The system takes advantage of the increased power and rendering capability of DirectX 10 and more modern hardware systems. The result is more realistic graphics. In terms of visual acuity, the software is limited only by the system on which it is running.Flight Simulator X, also known as FSX, is designed to work with most modern flight simulation accessories. These include flight sticks, joysticks, flight control assemblies, and even full cockpit approximation setups. All plane controls are fully mappable and can be changed to accommodate right- or left-handed persons. Visual feedback on the screen includes all gauges and indicators to enable the player to understand their plane. This includes navigational aids such as GPS, radio navigation, and simulated air traffic control chatter. Players can also exit the aircraft on the ground and check the plane, performing authentic pre-flight checks.This deluxe FSX edition offers players a sandbox to experiment outside of the missions. There are no restrictions on aircraft choice or objectives. Players can fly anywhere within the city of their choosing. They can then return to the landing strip any time before their fuel runs out. Fuel, the wind, and weather conditions can be adjusted. These have influences on the behavior and handling of the plane. The selection of planes is intended to offer pilots the maximum number of types to choose from. Choices include commercial airliners, small private commuter crafts, and professional stunt planes. All of the planes are officially licensed and produced with the assistance of their manufacturers.This FSX edition is a simulator that offers gamers a chance to fly from home. Straightforward and intuitive, this edition of the game was designed by Microsoft to be approachable while providing advanced simulator options. FSX also has a unique multiplayer mode where a player can serve as air traffic controller.

FSX for pilot training
I am taking flying lessons and wondered if FSX would hlep. It does on a few things and not others. Its a game thats almost a training siumulator. I installed a model for the plane I train in, Piper Tomahawk. FSX does help me with familarization with the gauges and controls; the rudder pedal action is pretty good practice for steering on the taxi takeoff. Turns and landing flares are not much like the real airplane controls ....or maybe I just need to work on adjusting the pitch and aileron sensitivity. I think the problem with judging landing flares is the lack of realistic distance perception. Overall, I guess its worth the investment. If everybody would buy Deluxe version & SP2, else it's not the KISS Theory
FS2002 Pro had little conflict with user made model planes and panels. I'm talking about the service packs. A created plane can work great on your setup and your friend with another variation-setup won't work unless he buys the Deluxe version. (He didn't buy the Deluxe version & install FS10 SP2.) But, thats ok because given enough effort one can make modifications changing out old gauges with FS10 compatables. Modifying panels will take a good deal of your time, too, when using a FS8 plane that worked on FS9 and you find with FS10, the gauges are no longer supported. On the other hand, I got used to making scenery and panels with XML in FS9. I have become tired of fixing them for my sim-buddies the past couple years. Most of my time was not playing FS10, but, modifying to get earlier ... FS2002 Pro had little conflict with user made model planes and panels. I'm talking about the service packs. And, may you not want that great FS8/9 model to modify to run on FS10.

You need a powerfull machine to run fsx at high specs
My pc is old and does not have a name brand video card so the graphcs suck i like playing the x-plane demo on my mac with better resolution then with my old pc. It would be awesome if i could actually play the game with high graphics it would be nice that MS tells you this before you buy the product it only says the operating systems. I wish they made it compatible with mac. I tried to run it using boot camp on my new mac but i hard a video card problem the driver had not been installed. I wanted to buy it because it has airport buildings with jetways and real traffic unlike x-plane. and also because it was cheaper then x-plane microsoft lied because it says it is with the real world like they have highway traffic real animals and real life but thats a lie nothing of that is included you ... That MS lied so much and tells you nothing about the important stuff until when you bought it and use it do you find out. So my suggestion if you have a computer without Nvidia or ATI video card by name brand or a netbook low memory stay away from FSX. If you have like a gaming pc like alien or Dell XPS that is the only computer that i have heard that runs fsx smoothly. If you have a mac go with X-plane if you have a poor pc dont even bother to run any kind of flight sim because fsx demands high graphics and x-plane is a heavy memory user. So learn from this mistake spend the money for a high end pc or dont spend money at all now i have to wait for new flight sims or have to buy a DEll XPS.

Perfect simulator for the flying enthusiast!
Awesome thing to do while you are having some free time working from home. Arrived perfectly sealed and installation was a breeze. This is my second copy of FSX Deluxe Edition. Also included in the DVD case is a nice little manual for those of you who are just about starting. I am an experienced FSX user and I was flying in no time!

great fun easy to setup (but takes a while) and use.. do need at least VISTA o.s. to run it. I have just the basic proccessor.that comes with DELL 530/w Vista a little choppy at high setting but not bad. lots of settings to make it more real weather, fuel, radio, much much more. so much stuff i haven't even tried yet.
