Very Informative
Very Informative, straight to the point and no-nosense written book. It goes over the basics and then plenty of topics one would not normally think about. It even gets indepth in safety thinking to the point where it tells you how to sheath a knife (which side), so that if it punchtures the sheath, it will not hurt you! Tells you exactly how to pack your backpack what articles are needed and how to utilize minimum space, so you can cary a few items that are considered "luxury". The book could be improved upon though, I do believe it is written for those who have a trainer/leader or those who already are familiar with hiking and packing. Some of the topics like water, and animals, are very general and a bit vague not as specific and step by step as a layman or first time out person ... This was purchased for a family member as a holiday gift. They are the outdoors type and had expressed an interest in what they could or should do in case of an emergency or a life-threatening event. They told me they just casually began reading it Christmas night and by the second chapter they couldn't put it down. It was filled with short, concise, well-written articles on how to survive many natural disaster, how to find food, drinking water, shelter, how to make snares, filters, rudimentary medical treatment and a lot more. There are easy to follow directions and drawings to refer to, and the booklet is small enough to fit in your pocket to take with you when you go far away from human habitation. They considered it an invaluable guide for anyone who wants to be prepared...for ... This was purchased for a family member as a holiday gift. The Ultimate Survival Guide
This book is compact and VERY informative, complete with easy to follow instructions and illustrations THIS IS THE GOTO BOOK for outdoor survival. You should keep a copy in your car/truck and one with your camping gear. Small and cheap and chock full of good information that can save your life and/or make it more comfortable in the wild you should buy several! I love this book and have several copies myself! Consider this an essential piece of gear just like your knife! A must have for any outdoor enthusiast or novice!This book is compact and VERY informative, complete with easy to follow instructions and illustrations THIS IS THE GOTO BOOK for outdoor survival. Great Book
If you would like to know how to survive anywhere in the world, or if you like to explore the wilderness beyond the edges of modern civilization, there is a ton of information in this book you will need. Even if you don't plan on using these survival techniques it is still very interesting to learn them, and you never know it just might save your life someday. This book was written by a survival instructor from the SAS special services in the British Army. He knows what he is talking about. This is a great book. Great beginners guide
I bought this book because I had an interest in basic survival skills. I was very pleased with this book because it covered all the basics and much more. I was especially impressed with all the many ways to light fires and collect water. It was very well illustrated (appreciated that most on the section about tying knots). Also, it came in paperback size so it would be easy to keep in a backpack. I highly recommend this book as an essential for every household.I bought this book because I had an interest in basic survival skills.
