À propos de ce produit

Product Information

Jimmy Buffett, bestselling author of "Tales from Margaritaville" and hero to "parrotheads" everywhere, flies back into view with a novel set in the Caribbean, involving a lighthouse, a mystery, a wild cast of characters, and more than a few bottles of tequila. Raucous, wise, and familiar with the world's wonderful strangeness, "A Salty Piece of Land" is the escapism at its best.

  • "A Tasty Mental Treat"

Since the early '70's, I've been a "Parotthead". My first "Jimmy Buffett concert" was at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, October 4, 1974, which was also my birthday. What a great present! I've been a big fan since the first time I heard his music. Landlocked as Arkansans are, his songs and stories present a vicarious romp through the Carribbean. It's like taking a conch shell and holding it to your ear, and letting your imagination take you to the little latitudes. His stories, and experiences provide a getaway to a balmy, laid back oasis. He creates an atmosphere so real, that you can taste the salt in the air, and feel the sand between your toes. Perhaps that explains why Jimmy Buffett is only one of six authors ever to have bestsellers on the New York Times Bestseller lists for ...

  • A New Jimmy Buffett Fan!

This book completely drew me in! The author writes with the beautiful descriptive phrases of a poet, the characters and places quickly becoming so real that you immediately want to ditch your everyday, humdrum life and sail away. It's very difficult to put this one down, and turning the last page leaves you with a definite sense of regret and a taste for more. I am now a Jimmy Buffett, the author, fan, but the CD single included also made me a Jimmy Buffett, musician, fan! I am of the generation that should be more than aware of his talent, but I'm afraid that it slipped by me. No more; I am now beginning my Jimmy Buffett music collection!

  • A beautifully entwined story with a Caribbean flavor!

A wonderfully twisting story. Whether you are a fan of Jimmy Buffett's music or not, you have to give him proper respect as an author. He paints a picture with words that allows you to see the story in your mind. I hope this is eventually made into a Hollywood movie, but I think it would be difficult to match the pictures he places in our heads. A great read!

  • Entertaining

I bought the book on CD's, so I could listen whenever I was on the road. It took about two weeks to go through the entire story (8 CDs!). It was funny, engaging, perhaps a bit contrived, but hey, it's fiction! From the get-go to the end, I enjoyed Buffet's writing, and identified with several of the characters. Isn't that what writing is all about? The reader did a good job with differentiating the speakers in quoted sequences, even if his Carribean accents leave a bit to be desired. In all, it's a good read (or listen, in my case). My only complaint is that the reader continually pronounces "Fresnel" as FREZ-nel, which any Frenchman or stagehand will tell him is properly pronounced fre-NEL. And Buffet confused the Fresnel lens with a lighthouse light source. The lens serves only to focus ...

  • Who doesn't LOVE Jimmy Buffett's stories?

Another incredible book written by America's ocean loving storyteller, Jimmy Buffett. So happy I bought this book! Shocked to see it was a hardcover, a great new addition to my personal Library!
