Works ok on Yugo SKS
I had read other reviews and was convinced they hadn't read the "fine" print where it states you will have to file fit for your particular rifle. I did have to file the tips a little as I could tell out of the box they were longer than what was on my rifle. Now that only took about 10 minutes and I had the cover flush with the rifle at the back of the weapon. The holding pin would still not go through. I had to make the hole bigger in order to get the pin to go through. Not a big deal but does add some wobble. My big gripe is now that it is installed, the cover is flush with the rifle on the left side but sticks out on the right side enough to be noticeable. This is not a good look, and required a little fiddling to get the slide to go back and forth smoothly. I'm not sure the two ... I did use loctite on the threads. Not a big fan of the 4 pressure screws on both sides but they are probably a requirement for this cover. I do like that you can still use your iron sights with this cover, just hope it isn't a necessity. I will probably just find a rail to mount to my original cover, at least then I know it will fit and will be easy to take down for cleaning. Bottom line, i would not purchase this again.

A lot of filing to make fit. Very pleased with final result.
Pros, Perfect for my new 30mm scope with the risers. Still able to use iron sites. Cons, took a lot of filing to get perfect fit. Phillips head screws for scope rings backed off and had to remove scope to add lock tight. My fault for not doing so to begin with. Very pleased with final result.

Best type yet for me
As with all SKS type of receiver covers, you have to file the 2 front "ears" to get it where you can then insert the receiver cover pin. What I have found though, is you also need to file the hole for the receiver pin for it to fully pass through and engage its lock. Best to have a Dremel tool with a round cylinder stone smaller than the diameter of the pin hole to do this. This was the 3rd type of cover that I have purchased and it fits the best. The other 2 were of a different configuration. One came with a red dot mount milled into it, and the other just had the top rail but no ears for the Allen screws (I also had to file the Weaver piece so that the optic mount would attach. Maybe the other 2 were practice pieces for me but, this fits the best and no issues with the rail having to be ... Needs a bit modification for Type 56 (Chinese-Most common)
I had to file the tips for it to fit on the slide. Took 15-20 min to get just right because you don't want to file too much off and it become loose. Also very first shot I took after install the bolt was jammed because of the mount. Only after about 60+ rounds did it start to cycle without jamming. I'll have to clean and shave the inside a bit until I get it just right. Also the opening where the factory take down pin goes needed to be filed as well. For ~$25 this is a good value but you will need to do a little work to make it just right. Good experience though. Happy shooting!I had to file the tips for it to fit on the slide. Scope Mount for SKS Rifle; A Bit of Work To Make It Fit
Some gunsmithing is required to make this fit. It is NOT a drop-in fit. A mount on the left side of the receiver must be removed by drilling and some filing is required to make the new piece fit the receiver. The instructions enclosed do point this out and you MUST be careful so you don't remove TOO MUCH material. I wouls suggest using a micrometer and jeweler's files. However, the instructions do NOT say anything about having to remove the existing side mount by drilling and removing two rivets. The new cover is of good material and seems to be very stout. The set screws on the side that secure the new cover to the receiver are a bit unwieldy as you will have to losedn everything up to revove the cover when you clean your rifle.
