The Black Parade marches on... but not too far.
The Black Parade, being My Chemical Romance's third album & a strong nod to 1970's glam rock & concept heavy material, is a decent record although it will fail to stand the test of time in the same way as the Who's "TOMMY" or Pink Floyd's "THE WALL" (which are both personal favorites of mine). It is filled with dramatic, mostly unoriginal but not bad, music. Brian May-esque riffs adorn the entire concept piece as well as melodic piano. The band tends to lack imagination in their constant turn towards power-chords however to fill out their songs instead of more single string harmonies or less trod upon chord arrangements which really don't take too much searching for, especially when the band is made up of musicians who are definitely not ... The band tends to lack imagination in their constant turn towards power-chords however to fill out their songs instead of more single string harmonies or less trod upon chord arrangements which really don't take too much searching for, especially when the band is made up of musicians who are definitely not idiots, in fact they are quite accomplished, but could make use of less formulaic pop hooks & replace them with more down to earth songwriting tactics. The high points of the album, for me, are found in "Mama" & the hidden additional track "Blood", most likely due to the more rootsy nature of the two songs with a solid tip of the hat towards gipsy jazz & vaudeville. "Cancer" is a good piece which lets you breath a little in the barrage of dramatic cabaret pop-rock that is the "BLACK PARADE". Another favorite of mine is oddly enough one of the most unrelentingly hard-hitting & power chord driven tracks, titled "Sleep". Overall, the album is a good (but not great) body of work with a solid, cohesive sound & concept. Definitely worth a listen or two, especially if you, like me, are driven towards more concept-heavy material.

My Chemical Romance delivers fist-pumping anthems and memorable melodies in their third studio album, The Black Parade. Easily their biggest, most well-known album, it is worth checking out if you're a fan of Fall Out Boy, Green Day, Panic! At The Disco, Neon Trees, Taking Back Sunday, and The Used. The album feels theatrical, chiming in with a showtuney intro, laced with piano and unforgettable lyrics, and continues into a full-blown concept rock album, burning out with a hidden track, 1:30 after the final track listed on the album concludes. A really great album, definitely worth purchasing.
My Chemical Romance doesn't disappoint with this album. I bought it because I've been a fan but it has, overall, some of the best songs of today's day and age. Songs like "Teenagers" and "Famous Last Words" are not only great lyrically but also musically. You either love My Chemical Romance, or really hate them, but this album is one of the greatest of today. From the first to last track, it's an overall great album.
