This smart GS748T also supports multiple port configurations. You can use these 48-port networking systems for VLAN traffic control, port trunking, and CoS prioritization. These features allow you to maintain control of internal and external traffic. The VLANS also helps to ensure that the type and size of data transfers are properly prioritized. You can also use this product's operating system for MLD snooping, static routing, and SNMP link aggregation. Its QoS helps to ensure a smooth online experience with every interaction or transaction. With a 1,000 Mbps or 1 Gps rate of data transfer, performing large data uploads or transfers is a snap.This system has four SFP gigabit fiber ports, two of which are combo and two that are dedicated. By delivering this flexibility, the desktop hardware allows you to configure your own flow control. The jumbo frame support allows for seamless integration with more sophisticated networks.     Pro: Inexpensive and reliable. Con: loud, even with new fans.

    Inexpensive and reliable; a workhorse of the data center. If you are building a network on a budget, this is your starting point. "Partially managed" means QoS, VLAN etc. are configured via web GUI, but there is no CLI as found in "Fully managed" switches like the GSM---- series. One caveat: Hardware revisions v1-v3 run the cooling fans at full speed continuously. Even new 1U fans are loud at ~9K RPM, so this is best kept in a separate room or closet, away from people who are trying to concentrate. If you need a switch that is more sociable, look for a newer/more expensive model that adjusts cooling fan speed.

    Tested Working, Happy With My Purchase

    Received the "NETGEAR PROSAFE GS748T 48-PORT SMART GIGABIT ETHERNET SWITCH". Pros: - All the ports work properly (Running at Gigabit speeds) - Web Interface was easy to use - Great Value - Mine Came with Rack Ears Cons: - Loud fans (but this is to be expected so it's not an issue for me)

    It is working as it should they are made to run for years I am cisco trained out f box needed coded setup and spanning trees, ports , LAGS,VLANS,trunking, lost ajob over this. Because Executives think 24hrs is more the enough

    Super easy to set up. Just take it out of the box and start plugging in your ethernet cables. It replaced 2 24 port switches.
