The result is this ultimate collection of 45 building plans that are sure to meet the needs of any chicken owner. The featured designs include basic easy-to assemble hoop houses, A-frames, and multi-storied wooden structures, as well as larger models for small commercial farms. There are also a variety of moveable coops that can be rotated around the yard, and low-budget coops constructed from found and repurposed materials. Pangman shares inspirational and instructive stories about the participating coop designers/ builders. Enthusiastic communities of chicken-keepers have organized chicken tours in cities such as Seattle, highlighting the fun and fantastic imagination of some coop architect/builders. • Chicken Coops

I bought this book to build some small to mid sized chicken coops for my farm. I have found many in this book that I would like to build, however it should be stated that one must know some basic carpentery skills and have a few basic tools to build with. Most people can understand that. The book has 45 building plans, The ideas are great and the color photos are a big help. The problem is that the plans are vague and you must figure many measurements on your own. There are also no material lists, so you must figure out how many hinges, brackets and how much wood is needed for each project. What really annoys me the most about this book, is that if you want the exact building plans, you must contact another source and pay for them!?! I thought the exact plans would be IN the book, boy, was I ...

  • save your money

the author mist their mark. a picture with some diminutions is not a pattern. I'm a capturer and I could not build anything in this book, no information. I wood subject, to DIY steer clear, do not waste your money. The best this book is good for is maybe some ideals

  • Wonderful IDEA book for poultry housing ("

I've studied chicken coops for years, designed and constructed many of various sizes in the northeastern United States. I find this book to be a very useful resource for coming up with new ideas/designs. Each design is introduced by capacity i.e. Shiloh Mini Hen Retreat HOLDS: 50 hens, 10 nest boxes & 5 roosts. So, aside from a pleasing design, the capacities are at the fore so you are building to suit your present and future needs. Each design starts with a full view illustration of how the completed coop should appear. Then elevation views and overhead views are provided with all the necessary dimensions, right down to the size of the hen doors. I woul not call this a beginner's construction manual, as it is obviously assumed that the builder has some prior experience with basic ...

  • Wipe your butt with the pages of this book!

Martha Stewart would crap her pants if she read this book!!!! It sucks! I wanted a book that provided chicken coop house plans... This book I kid you not, has a chicken coop plan that tells you how to build a chicken coop out of square hay bails and a tarp to cover it, and one out of a pickup truck cab!!!! REALLY?!?!?!?! I wasnt going for white trash chicken houses or for something embarrassing to put into my back yard...I wanted a "how to build" a chicken coop not a "how to make your farm look po-dunk!!!!" I'm sorry Judy Pangman go back to the drawing board and rethink your book. To be honest the title of your book should be called "You Might be white trash if you make your chicken coop out of this!"..I just wasted my money on your retarded hairbrained ...

  • Coop

Most of the coops are just recycled junk thrown together. If you are into that sort of thing, then it is a decent book. I was looking more for actual chicken coop plans with schematics, dimensions, material lists, etc..
