New to digital cameras? Look closely at this one.
There is much to love about this little camera. For one, it's shirt-pocket small. For two, it's amazingly easy to use. But don't let that fool you. It can do some really cool stuff you'd expect from a camera costing a lot more than it. For me, starting in AUTO mode was fine to begin with. To its credit it takes pictures with a minimum of intervention. It's Face Detection and resolution features take a bit to "dial in" and get it all in focus, but then again, I take twice as long humanly to do the same thing with bifocal-assisted eyes. Venturing out to play from the safe confines of AUTO mode is just that- play! The best way to learn how to use a digital camera is by just playing with it on a repeated, regular basis. For this I would advise the potential buyer to consider the smart ... There is much to love about this little camera. For one, it's shirt-pocket small. For two, it's amazingly easy to use. For this I would advise the potential buyer to consider the smart investment in NIMH rechargable AA batteries for the A-835. More play time, less hassle, very green. If on occasion you're as rickety as me, invest in a camera bag kit with mini tripod. Because once you get the hang of composing timed shots, you'll do as many as you can! Having a tripod helps! The A-835 uses SD or SD/SDHC memory cards for above and beyond its internal memory. 4GB is the maximum size but if you need more than this, 4GB cards are very reasonable. For what it's worth, I've never had an ounce of trouble from the A-835's battery door, but I wish it had a locking feature. Just be gentle and careful and you'll do OK. After all, it's a CAMERA- not a swiss army knife! If it's maintained well and kept clean, stored in a protctive camera bag, it'll serve you well. The PhotoImpression software loaded easily on all my Windows XP Pro 32bit computers with nary an electronic burp or fart. I'm not sure about compatability with Vista or Mac OS, so ask before buying, or Google "GE A-835 Digital Camera". The website is very well thought out and wonderfully informative. There are more tips and tricks on it than is found in the user guide. So, visit, hunt, browse and play! I bought a silver A-835 for me, and a black A-835 for my wife. With accessories, NIMH batteries and charger for mobile/home use, three 4GB SD/SDHC cards and USB readers each, and camera bags, we came out a little under $50 below a single, "better name brand" camera less accessories. I was very pleased. When my wife's camera arrived, it had a problem. The battery meter display would show the batteries to be completely discharged in spite of them being new. A trip to the website offered a prompt, polite fix to the problem, easily done. Following the website's directions and using one of my 4GB SD/SDHC cards I was able to download to the card the latest firmware upgrade. Afterward, the camera performed flawlessly! I followed by sending a "thank you" email to the site support, and received a warm, kind reply. General Electric is no new name to imaging. From medical X-Ray equipment to many other commercial items and ventures, they continue to successfully deliver to the world the best products. There is genuine courtesy and support for those as well. There are many other cameras advertised, and I will not knock them for trying to offer a good product. All I'm saying is this- look at the A-835, read up on it, and if you decide to buy it, do so. Mine has been nothing short of wonderful to use, and if you just simply read the owners literature provided and play with it, you'll be rewarded with crisp, clear, high-quality pictures, and features that rival cameras costing hundreds of dollars more.

Great Little Camera With Awesome Autofocus!
I have had this camera for quite awhile and I love how hardy it is. I have dropped it several times and it still works perfectly and looks brand new. My most favorite feature: When you hold down the button to take a picture, you can lightly press for a few seconds, it will auto focus, then when you press all the way down it takes a crystal clear picture with no fuzzy, blurry, or pixel to the resulting photo. It is super easy to take the SD card out of it's slot, just press on it lightly and it pops right out! The only thing I don't like is that it eats batteries pretty quickly, if one were to invest in rechargeable batteries and carries around spares it would solve this problem no sweat! This camera is more compact and easier to use than my husbands Sony Cybershot DSC-P93, not to ... I have had this camera for quite awhile and I love how hardy it is. GE A835 8.0 Megapixel Digital Camera
I've purchased GE cameras before. This camera was purchased as a gift. The Ge 8.0 MP digital camera has great features. The display is big, easy to see the image. It has functions for making video's great for you tube uploading. Manual settings or Auto settings for taking pictures. It's very easy to use.

Surprise! It's a General Electric
This GE A835 8.0 Megapixel point-and-shoot camera is slim, light-weight, and truly pocket sized. Using AA batteries and standard SD flash cards makes it possible to take it anywhere easily. I found the settings easy to figure out and only checked the manual a couple of times. The LCD screen is bright and easy to see. The only problem I can see is for someone with very big hands or fingers. This is a small camera with small controls. The camera is actually made by General Imaging, which started up about 2 years ago with former Sony and Olympus engineers. This model is available at current retail for more than twice what I paid. A lot of bang for the buck!
I upgraded from an HP camera when I bought this GE. It has many features the HP didn't and it takes great pictures! I did buy rechargable batteries for it, which I believe will save money, as it only holds two batteries and can use 'em up. ther than that, I am thrilled with this camera and am certain I will enjjoy it for years to come!
