Based on a story by Daphne Du Maurier, DON'T LOOK NOW follows a grieving English couple to Venice, where the past continues to plague them. John Baxter (Donald Sutherland) and his wife Laura (Julie Christie) are in mourning for their young daughter, who drowned tragically near their home. John takes a job in Venice so that the couple can leave the past behind, but, unfortunately, the past is not easily forgotten. While John begins to see unsettling visions of a young girl in a red coat running through the Venice streets, Laura learns from an elderly psychic that her husband is in grave danger. What follows is an eerie, erotic mystery that builds to a shockingly horrific climax.DON'T LOOK NOW is one of the most daring and influential motion pictures of the 1970s. From Pino Donaggio's atmospheric score to Graeme Clifford's elliptical editing (exemplified in the film's notorious sex scene), Roeg's film is a stylistic achievement. Sutherland and Christie are their typical phenomenal selves playing the bereaved, devastated couple.

Horror for Grown-Ups
On my list of 50 favorite films, it's at or near the top of its genre. Roeg's use of color and imagery to weave together a subtle psychological horror story is nothing short of brilliant, and he brings two their finest performances from two of the finest actors of their generation - Sutherland and Christie. And yes - it contains a truly classic erotic scene between the two principals. It's not a thrill-a-minute spectacle by any means - but a truly beautifully made film about real people made extraordinary in their love and their grief.On my list of 50 favorite films, it's at or near the top of its genre. In this movie, Don't Look Now, British parents of a drowned child go to Venice and meet a blind psychic and her sister. They are trying to move on with their life, but it is very difficult. The couple meet two sisters in a cafe, one blind and a psychic, who tells them their daughter is ''happy'' in her new world. Laura is comforted by this, but John scoffs, but is haunted by visions of a small figure darting around the canals, dressed in the same red rain coat his daughter used to wear.In this movie, Don't Look Now, British parents of a drowned child go to Venice and meet a blind psychic and her sister. Haunting film
I saw this movie as a kid and always thought it was scary. Not so much now. But so many good memories. 👍🏼

Eerie, beautiful
I saw this movie on Bravo's 100 Greatest Horror Moments about 3 years ago. I recently ordered it from half.com. I was impressed with Donald Sutherland's acting; this was the first movie I've ever seen him in. I liked the gross little midget thing, and I loved the creepy ESP twins, especially the blind one.
