Product Information

Get the full story in O.J. Simpson's own words! On July 31, 2007 Federal Court Judge A. Jay Cristol awarded the Goldman family the rights to If I Did It. Thus began one of the strangest odysseys in publishing history. The book, called "one of the most chilling things I have ever read" by Barbara Walters, skyrocketed up bestseller lists across the country in fall 2007 as the national media relentlessly covered O.J. Simpson's dramatic Las Vegas arrest for armed robbery and kidnapping. Originally written by O.J. Simpson, this edition includes essays by the Goldmans and a member of the Goldman family legal team that reveal the fascinating story behind the bankruptcy case, the book's publication and the looming court proceedings, that would eventually lead to his conviction. In 1994, Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were brutally murdered at her home in Brentwood, California. O.J. Simpson was tried for the crime in a case that captured the attention of the American people, but was ultimately acquitted of criminal charges. The victims' families brought a civil case against Simpson, which found him liable for willfully and wrongfully causing the deaths of Ron and Nicole committing battery with malice and oppression. In 2006, HarperCollins announced the publication of a book in which O.J. Simpson told how he hypothetically would have committed the murders. In response to public outrage that Simpson stood to profit from these crimes, HarperCollins canceled the book. The Goldman family views the book as his confession, and has worked hard to ensure that the public will read this book and learn the truth. This is O.J. Simpson's original manuscript, approved by him, with up to 14,000 words of additional key commentary.

  • What to expect from the king of lies

This book is a slow hard to stay focused read. The person that is telling the story just continually talks about all of the good he did, and how he tried to be the best husband possible for a woman that was just frequently guilty of abusing him, and not understanding how a really good woman and wife should be. The chapter that contains this made up story about him and another man that goes to scare his ex wife, and then she and her friend just wind up dead, is fake and just not what he really did. It's the worst made up version of fiction he could say. I had to read it because I wanted to know how he felt. It left me wondering at some points weather he may have not been the killer, but then I had to realize it was written by a sociopath, and a domestic violator who are known for their ...

  • this sounds like oj wanted to confess.

I like that it was not confusing to read. I was fas cinated with the story of oj and nicole. When the trial started, I was 15 years old. I never got a chance to read all the books that came out until now. Oj talks about how Nicole wanted to find herself and she decided to divorce him. He claimed that she did not want to see him with anyone else but was also playing games with him. She was psychotic, controlling and manipulative. Her life without him seemed a mess. She also seemed to be a very immoral person. It seemed like after she left oj, the men she dated just wanted her for personal gain. She was not considered to be someone to have a long term relationship with.

  • HE DID IT

I know he did it but he had help...OJ couldn't stand for Nicole to have any friends especially male friends....Even though Ron was just a friend he paid the ultimate price...his life...there is so much evidence against OJ to be convicted the jury was taken in by his fame....it is so hard to get a celebrity convicted of a crime no matter how much evidence Law Enforcement has on them...and now even if OJ confessed there is nothing the law can do to him...because of Double Jeopardy....

  • The Truth

Well written and just reinforces how badly the justice system is broken. The victim's families should never have been put through all the legal hoops they had to jump through to get what they were awarded. Lived there at the time of the murders and through the highway chase. The sideshow atmosphere of the entire thing was in O.J.'s own words as well as what most of America knew at the time. There was never another killer out there, just him. His ego maniacal personality allowed him to tell the truth. He was the worst kind of spoiled celebrity with a bad temper and a huge ego. Two people shouldn't have lost their lives that day. As the readers will see it's because he got angry about a rumor and purposely took two lives. Such a tragedy.

  • The original title was disgustting

I guess I purchased the book out of curiosity. I was trying to get a sense of why the Goldman's would want any part of something so hideous. After reading the book I came to understand there reasons for why they decided to go ahead and publish the book. This was a very sad book obviously because we all know how it ended. I also got a sense that this book was written by some one who had to have been at the scene because of the detail that was given. I guess what I liked about the book is that so much has been said about Nicole Brown and we tend to forget that there was also a young man who unfortunantlly was at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was nice to get a sense of what kind of person Ron was.
