Synopsis
Nearing sixty, diagnosed with heart disease and feeling his mortality, Gary Paulsen buys his first Harley-Davidson and rides from his home in New Mexico to Alaska-and from the present into his past, through the landmarks of a singular life. Paulsen's journey is peopled with familiar faces, from the tough cop who saved him from juvenile delinquency to the prostitute whose career advice stopped him from quitting the army. And the work he does while on his bike-the work of mapping his life to find meaning-is of a piece with the pure sweat and muscle of youthful days spent on farms in Minnesota, or at the bottom of septic tank pits in Colorado, or wrangling dogsleds through the Alaskan wilderness. Amid the silence and beauty of running the road on his Harley, Paulsen celebrates the comforts of hard work, the thrill of challenge met bravely, and the peculiar joys of life lived to its fullest.

El artículo correspondía al de la descripción. Llegó quizá en un bolsa con poca protección por lo que el libro llegó con daños en la cubierta. Hablé con el vendedor y me ofreció muy amablemente un reembolso. Muy contento con el vendedor.

Item in condition described. The shipment tracking was completely opaque and shipping was slow. The seller used a third-party shipping solution provider that gave a USPS tracking number, but, USPS had no real tracking info. I was not able to see any delivery estimate until the day before it arrived. When the delivery date estimate finally materialized, it was off by two days, saying arrival would be on e.g. the 5th when it actually arrived on the 3rd.

As the title mentions awesomebooksusa, most books have been rarely awesome but the book prices have been almost generous, granted. Unbelievable services : 3 day international shipping, prompt dispatch, newly book condition, provided tracking, secure package, exactly received book, and safe deliveries. My gratitude to the seller’s thoughts of the needy buyers sending the wanted books to the new residence. Many thanks! Arabella

  • Fantastic book - read it in one sitting!

Buy this book, read it, then read it again! This is the kind of book I wish I could write. Took me less than 2 hrs. to read; just couldn't put it down. It's a very down-to-earth story of a man who takes off on a long-overdue roadtrip. During the journey, he reminisces about his childhood, life in the Army, jobs, wives, kids, and everything in between. He also discovers important things about himself and life in general. I think if we all had eye-opening experiences as described in this book, the world would be a better place. Having just recently bought a Harley-Davidson myself, this book really hits home & makes me want to emulate what the author experienced.

  • Zero to Sixty by Gary Paulsen

Zero to Sixty is one of Paulsen's books for adults and is among is his finest works. This autobiographical work details a time frame in the author's life wherein the fever to own a motorcycle and embark on high-distance adventure overwhelms him and ultimately leads him to Alaska. The adventure set forth in this work is highly contagious and very nearly palpable. This book so inspired my husband (also a Harley Davidson enthusiast) that he finished Zero to Sixty in a matter of days and then proceeded to read everything by Paulsen we could find.

  • Very reminiscent of his other books.

I was hoping for a little more detail about the journey itself. Alot of the book was about the purchase of the motorcycle and just elaborating on past experiences that he was reminded of while on the ride. None the less I still found it humourous and entertaining to read and would suggest it to anyone.

  • Great book!

Gary Paulsen is a great writer. It doesn't matter if it's adult books or youth, you feel like you are right there seeing everthing & experiencing it. I bought this because I enjoy his writing. My only dislike was it was way to short.
