Players resume the tension-heavy role of NSA operative Sam Fisher for this third game in the Tom Clancy stealth-action spin-off series, Splinter Cell. A new kind of war is being fought in 2008, and information is the weapon. Enemies of the free world can now orchestrate devastation from afar, through such means as power outages and financial sabotage. The only way to stop them is with the same weapon they've chosen to use: information. Players must infiltrate enemy operations to recover secret data that can be used to prevent the enemies' attacks and leave them defenseless. <br><br>Chaos Theory boasts more fluid combat and stealth moves than its predecessors, bringing a new athleticism to the grim Sam Fisher and allowing quick, hand-to-hand stealth kills. As with earlier Splinter Cell games, Chaos Theory is also designed to push the technical limits of the consoles on which it appears, in terms of its physics model and graphics. Levels were built to offer more possible paths to their objectives -- and more opposition as well. Two-player infiltration is supported, however, allowing gamers to use teamwork to overcome the most challenging obstacles.<br><br>Along with the game itself, the Collector's Edition of Chaos Theory comes in a metallic case with a second disc of bonus content, including a "Making of" video, a browsable art gallery, a Penny Arcade cartoon "Spy Guide," and three remixed songs from the Amon Tobin-composed soundtrack. The Xbox version of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory supports both online and split-screen multiplayer modes, for both cooperative and competitive play.

Same single player, but great multiplayer!
The Single player is basically what you'd expect by now of the Splinter Cell Series. Get briefed on the bad guys by your pal Lambert and move in. If you've read my past reviews, you'll probably guess where I'm going with this. The levels were fun enough, but some how just not any more so than the last two games. Despite the repetition, you'll want to keep going. Even on the aging Xbox, the graphics still impress. Shadows look awesome, water looks exactly like water and the character movement capture is near perfect. I still don't know why they took out the S.W.A.T. turn maneuver from Pandora Tomorrow. That was the best. It's a welcomed feature used in Gears of War on the 360, can't imagine playing without it. Again the storyline wasn't very compelling, but it was still enough to ... The real kicker for this game is the online Multiplayer mode. It's unrivaled in multiplayer terms and just pure fun to play. Sure you have to deal with the occasional foul mouthed jerk(s), but when you can play with people like yourself, it's a sublime experience. I've made so many great friends over Xbox Live. I think its because of the level of intimacy between two players who have to work together in order to win. Unlike other games where you're thrown into a battlefield with 12-24 other players just doing their own thing. This isn't your typical Run 'n Gun. There's just more strategy that way. Online consists of Spies versus the Mercs. Whether you're a spy or merc, playing as a team is important. Constant communication is necessary. I noticed the wins are more satisfying when it's done on this level of gameplay. Unlike games such as Halo, where winning is based on the few hard core guys that carry the team to victory. You play a huge part or none at all.

Your plunged into stopping the North Koreans, who provoke the Japanese into starting a war. New this time around is a co-op mode in which you and a friend play through a 4 level exiting side story to the single player. This mode features an abundance of co-op moves that will make your eyes pop out there sockets.(Including a move where you can launch your team mate into a guards behind and knock him out.) Also, back from the previous installment (Pandora Tomorrow)is the adrenaline pumped Online multiplayer mode. In this mode you can log on via Xbox Live and play a 2 Spys .vs. 2 Mercenaries mode. It's really up to you. Now I know your asked to say what you think bad about this game when you get to writing the review screen, so I spent countless nights when I couldn't sleep and finally found something wrong with this game. You can't use the game box as a door stopper. It's just not heavy enough. I give this game 5 stars. *****

BEST GAME EVER!! And it was made in 2005??!!!
I’ve played some of the best bloody action games for 22 years of my life but ever since I bought this game the other day I can safely say this is one of my favorite games of all time. The graphics and physics alone are just pure bliss to look at… I’ve never played a campaign for so many hours and never got bored!!

The best SC to date!
This is THE BEST Splinter Cell to date, hands down in my opinion. Double Agent and Conviction have been very good as well, but this one is still the best. This game took the gameplay from the first two and then polished it up and blew it out of the water. They enhanced pretty much everything, leaving you with the feeling of being a do-it-all top-of-the-line spy. -The graphics: The graphics from the first two were very good, but this game was EXCEPTIONAL for an original Xbox game, in fact, it still looks pretty good compared to recent 360 games. -The enemy AI: Once in awhile they will spot you at the most ludicrous of times, and other times, not see you at all when you are practically in their faces, but overall the AI is just about perfect; not too smart, and not too dumb. Plus, their conversations in this game are usually comically ironic and sometimes even hilarious. -New Gadgets: The addition of the soundmeter is very helpful and useful. It takes the idea of ambient noise masking your noise, and works great. The OCP on the pistol which allows you to take out lights temporarily, even the ones you can't shoot out, makes it your most useful tool, besides the new knife. The knife makes gameplay much more versatile, You can use it for everything from stabbing someone and instantly taking them out up close, disabling different objects such as locks, and even cutting thin materials to open up a new path. Hacking now allows you to get in anywhere, through keypads, computers, and even retinal scanners. -The levels and story: The levels are very diverse and interesting. They include: a rudimentary lighthouse outpost, a cargo ship, a Panamanian bank, a penthouse in New York, a North Korean missile base, a mercenary office building, a Japanese bathhouse, and even a Japanese defense ministry. The story is easy to follow, and revolves around preventing a World War 3. It is well-written. It is a plot that seems very probable and realistic; it seems that it could happen pretty easily in real life, especially with all the North Korean missile tension that has happened relatively recently. This game also makes Sam look much more fluid and realistic. The way he moves when approaching an enemy from behind is amazing. As he slowly comes up on his victim, you can feel the tension growing as he reaches for his knife. His creeping matches that of what someone would have to do in real life to be utterly silent and to sneak up on someone without being detected. Overall, this game is worth a look if you have never played it or any other Splinter Cells. A definite buy in my opinion (especially with the prices on Ebay). It is backwards compatible with the Xbox 360, meaning you can play it on a 360, which I do fairly often.

I love this game. As the second in the Splinter Cell series, it takes a step above and goes far beyond expectations. It's not like with movies that the sequel will be inferior to it's predecessor, rather just the opposite. The original still holds a place of honor for setting the bar on creative games. Chaos Theory has some interesting new abilities: the knives, grabbing characters from a pipe, and pushing them over railings. The UK Ubisoft site puts it better, "Take command of an incredibly fluid and expanded variety of stealth maneuvers including covert combat knife kills, crushing submission holds, and swift assault moves." It's got cool new gadgets: "electronic jammers", computer hacking, and modular weapon you use attachments with. I think the best part of the game is the ... I love this game. Each game is rated based on achieving both primary and secondary objectives, as well as how you made your way through the game (stealth vs assault). There's more than one way to make it through the game, and this makes it fun. They've also added the ability to play in cooperative missions. You can have a partner help you out in your stealth missions. How cool is that? I highly recommend this game for anyone interested in challenge in adventure.
