"Building" on the success of LEGO Star Wars, LucasArts allows another of its signature properties to receive the interactive toy treatment. Famed archaeologist Indiana Jones takes his whip-cracking, pistol-packing persona into the lighthearted realm of LEGO in this homage to the rogue explorer's first three movies. Players begin their adventures in the world of academia, Barnett College, where Dr. Jones teaches archaeology. The institution serves as a jumping point for each of the three films.<br><br>The game offers 18 levels divided equally among three chapters where players will revisit memorable scenes on their way to recovering the Ark of the Covenant, the Sankara Stones, and the Holy Grail. Indy can use his whip to swing across chasms, fight enemies, or break apart objects to reveal coins. As in LEGO Star Wars, a second player can join in at any time for cooperative action online or off. Each character has specific roles and even phobias, such as Satipo's ability to dig up treasure or Indy's fear of snakes. Thus, players will frequently need to switch between characters to solve puzzles or complete tasks.<br><br>Over 60 playable characters include Sallah, Mola Ram, Marion Ravenwood, Short Round, Marcus Brody, and Toht. To appeal to the family friendly spirit of the toy series, Nazi references and symbols were removed in favor of a generic "cult" dressed in trench coats.

Lego Indiana Jones for the DS
I bought this game for the features that only the DS version has and I'm very happy with it. The gameplay is very similar to Traveller's Tales other Lego games. It's fun using the stylus to move and interact with objects in the game. The music is great. I use headphones and it sounds even better. The only drawback is the lack of better weapons for Indy to use. It's a shame he's stuck using a whip or his fists when he fights against people with guns. He has the chance to pick up weapons all throughout the game, but these are only temporary. It would have been nice to be able to customize a weapon after finding it or earning it, so you can take out a lot more enemies at once. But, even with that minor issue, I am very happy I bought it and will continue to buy Lego versions of ... I bought this game for the features that only the DS version has and I'm very happy with it. Fun for the Whole Family
The second installation in the Lego series has much in common with the original (Star Wars): good, clean family fun; lots of 'replayability'; plenty of characters to unlock and items to collect; and Han Solo. Han Solo?! Yes, Han is an unlockable character in the Lego Indiana Jones Trilogy, but he's not the only one. Unfortunately, the unlockable characters have very little use in this game, unlike the Ghost of Obi-Wan, et al., in the previous installment. In fact, the secrets and cheats in this game are nearly useless, even if they do add a little more flavor to the game. Like Lego Star Wars, the Indy game has plenty of puzzles to keep you guessing, lots to explore, and various character types to choose from. Also like Star Wars, Indy is buggy. Count on resetting more than once or ... The good thing is, you don't normally mind playing a level over (in fact, these games are designed so that you play each level at least twice). Minor problems aside, this game has that elusive fun factor that many better-designed games sorely lack. Once you get used to the somewhat wonky control scheme (which way do I jump, so I don't fall into the pit for the fiftieth time?!), gamers of any skill level can beat the game and have a whole lot of fun doing it. These Lego games are a great way to bond with the kids or spouse - you'll find yourselves talking about it and thinking about playing again throughout the day. Five stars out of five, with the aforementioned caveats (bugs, controls, nearly pointless secret characters and levels).

Fun game!
Great game that builds on the success of the LEGO Star Wars games. The only problem I have is that the DS multiplayer requires you to have a cartridge for each DS; thus, this is actually the second time I've bought this game. The first one was brand new from Gamestop. I probably would have still bought the game, but it is too bad I read the multiplayer logo wrong while in the store. I'd definitely recommend this game to any LEGO or Indiana Jones fan...or anyone who enjoys a fun game. I'm a huge fan of the Lego games, have them all for my PS2 as well as my DS. The reason I bought the DS versions is because with a 5 year old and a 1 1/2 year old I don't get much main counsle gaming in. It's just easier to play the hand held version when the kids are doing their thing. Just like the other games, Batman and the Star Wars series, Indy doesn't have as much detail as the main counsle games but it still serves it's purpose. There are some advantages to the DS version, the levels aren't as long, so you can get done quicker.
