À propos de ce produit

Product Information

"Hogan's Alley" for the NES was one of the original launch games for the system alongside 17 other titles. The premise of "Hogan's Alley" is based on the actual Hogan's Alley training facilities. First located in Camp Perry, the term "Hogan's Alley" now refers to a shooting range used by government agents. In the NES game, you play the role of a government agent who is looking to hone his skills. This title was one of the first to use the NES Zapper light-up gun. This software was both developed and published by Nintendo. It was released in 1984 in Japan and 1985 in the United States."Hogan's Alley" is split into three different modes, all of which are accessible from the main menu. In "Hogan's Alley A," the screen resembles a shooting range that police officers or government agents would use. This mode also closely resembles the arcade version of this software. Three targets will appear on the screen, offering a mix of both good and bad guys. Shoot the criminals to earn points while avoiding the civilians. Shoot a civilian more than once, and the game is over. A timer at the top of the screen shows you how long you have to hit each target. Shooting targets quickly will reward you with more points. Missing targets results in a strike against you. The criminals in this title are easy to spot thanks to their exaggerated archetypes and clothing style. One criminal features a nasty scowl and a brown leather jacket. The other two criminals look like members of the Mafia. On the other hand, the civilians feature bright colors that make them easy to spot. The woman is wearing a bright pink sweater while the police officer has a large badge and a smile."Hogan's Alley B" follows the same gameplay concept as the previous mode. However, instead of a static range, now your targets appear in a city. The targets will appear in windows, doors, and even on the street. The criminals aren't static in this mode and will move from side to side. The locations where you're fighting these cardboard cutouts are themed after parts of a city. In one section, for example, you're fighting in front of a store. After defeating all of the criminals in one area, the screen will pan over to a new location. With each successive wave of offenders you defeat, the game will get harder. The targets will move across the screen quicker, requiring faster reflexes to hit them. Just like in the previous mode, missing a criminal or shooting a civilian will end your training. In "Trick Shot," your job is to shoot two or more barrels onto ledges on the side of the screen. Each ridge is worth a specific amount of points based on how difficult it is to land a barrel there. With each successive round, the barrels move faster and become harder to hit. This software provides a tremendous amount of replayability as you attempt to defeat your high score.

  • A part of childhood... reclaimed!

When Hogans Alley arrived (on time I might add), I tried it immediately to make sure it worked. The cartridge works fine, but the gun has some sensitivity issues (pulling the trigger does not always translate to a shot appearing on the screen), about this particular issue I'm not worried. The game, itself, is very simple and the graphics are by today's standards, obsolete; and I love that! Playing older games and game systems inadvertently sets off strings of flashbacks and/or memories. I think the recall of feelings and ideas from years past is a truly beneficial side effect to engaging in video challenges of times long ago (in terms of technology; to me the days of the NES were are not that far in the past). As a sound constructor, playing games on older systems give inspiration and ...

  • Not a review on the game, but the converter inside

Ok so I know what you are thinking... why are you writing a review for Hogan's Alley? Well indeed the item was Hogan's Alley but why I bought it was for the Famicom Converter inside of it. This item is a great one to get if you do not want to spend the high dollar for the Famicom System itself, but you have to get the right cords for US stuff. Now I know a good bit about electronics but I didn't want to risk messing up my stuff so I opted for the converter. Now taking apart the cartridge was the tricky part. I didnt have the tool to do it so I had to cut it apart. This wasn't tough but time consuming. However when I got the converter out I was very excited. I really wanted to get it going but noticed immedately that the side of the converter needed worn down cause it was a bit too big to ...

  • Never had more fun being so slow...

WOW! Great fun! Everybody remembers how Duck Hunt was so fun and the most popular Nintendo shooter of all-time, and well deserving of the credit, but you can't forget the reflex testing, "Dang it I missed" yelling, "Man, I hate this game" whining that Hogan's Alley delivers! This game is what the Nintendo Zapper was born for. It has a lot of different levels so you can't just get used to one. And just the simplicity and fun of testing your reflexes and coordination with THE classic peripheral is enough to make you want to buy an NES for this game alone!
