This Level 2 I Can Read is perfect for kids who read on their own but still need a little help. "No child can resist Amelia [Bedelia] and her literal trips through the minefield of the English language--and no adult can fail to notice that she's usually right when she's wrong."--The New York Times Book Review, Learn to read with the classic Amelia Bedelia! POSITIVE PLUS! I bought this book because the price was very good for a book describes VG. It's well above VG! It has an unmarked library 'return date' card inside the back cover (Hubbardston Library) that has no date entry. The dust jacket is pristine and is a shiny paper unlike the 2 others I bought (I liked it so much I kept one, bought another to pass on). The cover/pages are equally pristine. It has a ribbon page marker (bible style). I'm sure it's unread 'Ex Libris = SUPERB SELLER.

  • Great Children's Books from a Great Author!

Amelia Bedelia is one of the most hilarious characters in stories! She is extremely literal-minded, so if you tell her to "draw the curtains," she gets pen and paper and gets to work! The author, Peggy Parish, was from South Carolina and was a good friend of my first grade teacher - I loved hearing the stories about Peggy Parish almost as much as the Amelia Bedelia stories themselves! Finally, these books are great for teaching kids about what certain things mean. Most kids would not know that "draw the curtains" means to close them, so these hilarious books can be an instructional tool as well. Now, my review only includes the Amelia Bedelia books from Peggy Parish - the ones from Herman Parish (a nephew, I believe) just don't have the same style.

  • Highly recommended series

Amelia Bedelia is a scatter-brained housekeeper who takes every instruction just a bit too literally. The books capture the imagination of children and are wonderful for pre-schoolers and early readers. Every Amelia Bedelia story has Amelia so confused while she is trying to help that you just have to laugh.... They are rated for first through third grade readers but will be enjoyed by everyone

  • A Fun Book

Bought this for my grandson along with other books for a Xmas present. As a former teacher I know that all the Amelia Bedelia books are hits with kids! They are clever and show children that so many expressions have double meanings!
