Presented live in concert, PERFECT SQUARE offers the full R.E.M. live experience. Their unique tour of 2003 saw the band playing some sizeable venues, and without a new album to promote the band took the opportunity to delight their fans with a greatest hits set. This particular concert was recorded at Bowling Green in Germany, and sees the band work their way through songs including "Drive," "Orange Crush," "Everybody Hurts," "Man On The Moon," "It's The End of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" and many others. Bonus material includes a full-length documentary from 1999 named A STIRLING PERFORMANCE which illustrates how the small Scottish town of Stirling coped with a three-night R.E.M. residency in a medieval castle.

A WINNER
The sound and video are top notch in this great set from a charming venue in Germany chosen for the concert. The thing that stands out most about "Perfect Square" is that it actually feels like a concert. R.E.M.'s past concert videos have been noticeably pieced together, taking a song from here and another from there. This time, finally, it's a single show, which makes the delivery more fluid. The bonus documentary "A Stirling Performance" chronicles the production of a trio of concerts the band performed at Sterling Castle in Scotland during the "Up" tour in 1999. It was quite interesting to see what sort of planning had to go into such a major production. The documentary unfortunately suffers from grainy picture quality and even worse sound quality. Hard to find DVD is a pleaser.
This DVD has most of REMs greatest hits and had great sound quality. The video is not the best but is acceptable. Overall, it was very good.
