  • 7th Cavalry - Right or Wrong

It's a well made and well researched piece of the overall puzzle of June 25, 1876. Given GA Custer's sometimes cavalier manner during the Civil War, it's quite possible that jealousy followed him throughout his career. This documentary, however presents only the words of Reno, Benteen and Wier. The true narrators of those two days were the tribes who were encamped along the Little Bighorn. The men did the one natural course when their wives and children were attacked, they struck back. But they were too afraid of reprisals to give any testimony of what occured those two days. Only in the early 20th century did a few step forward to give their account of what happened. Since they were considered beneath the white man, these accounts were given little if any veracity, starting with Custer ...

  • The documentary was well done but left out vital issues relating the battle

The U.S. government has never been known for its honesty. Its dealings and treaties with our Native Americans was no exception. The real betrayal that doomed Custer and could have done the same to Reno and Benteen was made by its own Indian Agents. Instead of reporting absentees at the reservations, the agents sold their rations and kept the money for themselves. The result was an extremely under reported Native American force at large. Custer was expecting to find a few hundred renegades at the most. The fact that he refused to take a gattling gun for fear that it would slow down his progress indicated that he was expecting a running battle. Once he saw the enormity of the village he sent his aide for reinforcements that never came. In my opinion Custers flamboyant personality ...

  • Great new look and evidence

Documentary reviews the Battle of Little Big Horn and the effect of inaction and defensive tactics on the part of Reno and Benteen. Attempts to debunk key points of Reno's well-prepared and practiced report made 3 years after the battle(the same report that also contradicts what his subordinates and soliders reported) to make this story one for debate through the ages. Live testing concludes that Reno should have known Custer was heavily engaged before he was at Last Stand Hill and then advanced in support of Custer and "moved to the sound of the guns" as Custer would do. Could it have made a difference... was Reno a coward... why didn't they send the packs of ammunition... you decide. Great footage from the actual site in Montana. Recommended viewing for any American History fan, ...

  • Betrayal at Little Big Horn

If you are a Custer and Battle of the Little Big Horn History Buff such as I, you will enjoy this A&E Documentary. It deals with the 1879 Court of Inquiry into the actions of Major Reno on that fateful 25 June 1876 Day and gives you insight into the Battle and the structure of the Command of the 7th Cavalry and offers a lot of what ifs Reno and Benteen had taken different actions then they did and had gone to Custer's aid. Shows the relationships between Custer and his officers. Shows Military Tactics of the day and explores the battle from start to finish with some good reenacments. Might Custer and the 7th Cavalry Companies under his direct command have been saved even after he split his forces. View this documentary and you be the judge on one of the most controversial battles in ...

  • Betrayal at Little Big Horn

I saw this program when it originally aired on TV, and now it is great to own this well produced documentary. It has lost none of its allure over the years. Bill Curtis's narration is top-notch, which is no surprise. Very well photographed and logically presented. The reenactors were well costumed. The story presented some very compelling points, but without assuming it had solved the mystery. I have met many of the people who took part in the video. Of course, the price is outstanding!
